That sounds legit. That word REALLY triggered something in Jason. "Methinks the gentleman doth protest too much..."
And there have been rumors about the sexuality of both of them, and the legitimacy of their "relationship"...

So--whatever makes them happy is great but why would Swift of all people fake a relationship for this length of time? That word REALLY triggered something in Jason. "Methinks the gentleman doth protest too much..."

Attacking pro athletes is very stupid. Dick Hoak beat up a fan in a Pittsbugh bar. Verbal assault is not free speech. It would have been better if Kelsey had ignored him, but by he got far less than he could have. They have both may been drunk. This fan dodged a bullet. Some punk called him and his brother a name and he grabbed the punk’s phone and body slams it. I don’t know the deal in PA but what he did is a serious crime on Ohio even if the punk was totally out of line. More bad PR for PSU.
Yep. Of course, if Kelse slugged him he’d have been calling his attorney for bail money.
Stupid words are covered by free speech. But getting physical, destroying property, is not covered by the constitution.
Yes. Unless you threaten someone. The kid deserved what he got morally. Legally, Kelce destroyed his property illegally. I’ve read that the incident is ‘under investigation’ by the police. I am willing to bet Kelce is making a donation to keep the kid from pressing charges.Question for lawyers. Is verbal assault protected as free speech? This was a stupid response by Kelsey.
He could buy the kid a new phone but then it would be open season on celebrities by everyone who wants an upgradeYes. Unless you threaten someone. The kid deserved what he got morally. That is just replaced the phone. It would be like a guy promising to give the money back after robbing a bank and getting caught. There is a criminal element here that needs to be overcome. My guess is we are talking low six figures as Mr Kelce and the networks want this to go away for PR purposes. In the old days, we called these road-rages.He could buy the kid a new phone but then it would be open season on celebrities by everyone who wants an upgrade

We used to say “ sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me”."Verbal assault" is not a thing, much like "hate speech" is not a thing. Or perhaps you could say that those are things, but things manufactured by people that are advocating to do away with free speech without coming right out and saying "We should do away with free speech."
Here is something I've never heard anyone say and likely new will hear anyone say "People shouldn't be allowed to say certain things. But I shouldn't be the one to decide what those things are, and instead someone with views different than me should be the one to decide."
We are at a time when many powerful people and institutions in our country are against free expression and it's scary.
Actually yes and no. In this case the fan could be charged with Disorderly Conduct calling Kelsey a “******” as any use of obscene language in public warrants that charge. Kelsey in turn could be charged with Criminal Mischief. Working in law enforcement for 30 years and with cell videos and body cams these day, that’s exactly what I would charge them with. Now the charges would probably be reduced to a citation and Kelsey would have to pay restitution for the phone. I had a punk come up to me in full uniform and call me a ****ing pig thinking it’s funny until they get cuffed and charged with disorderly conduct. The kid was dumbfounded I arrested him and thought he had the right to free speech. So no you cannot just walk around in public calling people ******s or saying **** you or even screaming, that’s disorderly conduct. We used to say “ sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me”.
The first one who gets physical, in law, looses
What state are you in? That's been ligitated in Pennsylvania for years. Stupid but not a crime hereActually yes and no. Thanks for that. I'd only add that a "disorderly conduct" charge is far less problematic than "Criminal Mischief". In Ohio, that is a felony. In Ohio, the penalty for Disorderly Conduct is a misdemeanor and typically a fine in the $150 to $500 range. This is especially true if the phone is a nice one worth over $500. The penalty goes up based on the value of the damaged item.Actually yes and no. Yes in PA. Disorderly conduct has been a pretty common charge when two people are cursing and yelling at each other in public, but don’t actually physically fight. The day of a cop separating two parties fighting and telling them to go home is long gone. Too much liability for police departments. I’m not sure what you mean that it’s been litigated in PA. I’ve seen so many people found guilty of DC for simply yelling and cursing at someone in public. What state are you in? That's been ligitated in Pennsylvania for years. Stupid but not a crime here
Kelce is getting more positive PR from this incident than anything else. As he should. And then we have the PR to consider. While I could easily withstand a Criminal Mischief charge, Kelce would end up with some really bad PR.
I don't agree at all. You don't apologize on national TV is the PR is good. Never apologize for good PR.Kelce is getting more positive PR from this incident than anything else. As he should.
Probably depends where you get your news.Kelce is getting more positive PR from this incident than anything else. As he should.
I teach high school and all too often adults need to put up with aggressive insults from 16-18 year old "children" who know exactly what they are doing. The "kids" also know that we are somewhat neutered- and that real "consequences" are likely limited to a 40 minute lunch detention that doesn't show up on your transcript- so they push boundaries.Yes. well stated. Two thoughts came to mind reading your post.I teach high school and all too often adults need to put up with aggressive insults from 16-18 year old "children" who know exactly what they are doing. The "kids" also know that we are somewhat neutered- and that real "consequences" are likely limited to a 40 minute lunch detention that doesn't show up on your transcript- so they push boundaries.
Kelce is now in a prison of his own making....being a "man of the people" will now limit his freedom to be amongst the people. This incident will only bring copy cats...looking for Social Media Fame or a pay off.
Is it right? Of course not. But this digital age coupled with a soft Covid pampered generation of young people who think that playing video games makes you an "athletes" is toxic.
As a Philly area resident I get an even bigger dose of the Kelces than the rest of the country. He is seemingly a great guy- very much aligned with the traditional "Philly mindset", but sometimes too much of a good thing is simply overload.
In school over the past 10 years or so I've noticed that kids are "braver" in person but also "sneakier" in terms of posting their real opinions online via their "Fake Instagram" or "Finsta" accounts- many of which would've resulted in them swallowing their teeth 40 years ago.
John Mellencamp referenced this dynamic in his song Cherry Bomb:
"One night me with my big mouth,
A couple guys had to put me in my place,
When I see those guys these days,
We just laugh and say do you remember when?"
That camera phone "victim" may need to face consequences for his actions somewhere down the line. Kelce is already "guilty" in the court of public opinion, and will likely pay a financial, and legal price too.
But that kid needs to get his ass kicked by someone to learn a lesson too- about how his "free speech" can- and in the old days would- carry repercussions that would cause one to pause before shooting one's mouth off. In my youth I learned that lesson the hard way.
Today's youth are so, so, so soft. If the kid just lets the guy walk to his tailgate- which is as much his "right" as the big mouthed kids "speech"- this story doesn't exist.
Kelce can no longer have it both ways either. The whole thing doesn't help PSU in any way. America has much bigger fish to fry....time to move on.
Does anyone know who the kid was? Was he a PSU student and/or fan?
