Herbie interviews Saquon

Sounded like Saquon
referred to Trace McSorley as "T9"

Fun nickname for our great QB

;)

It is near the 19 min mark, when SB praises
JoMo, the WRs and the passing game.
When they try to stop the running game,
there are a lot of other weapons on the team.
He said when that happens, he has to be ready
to be involved in any other ways he can contribute.

Herbie personifies the word “duplicitous”

Definition: “marked by deliberate deceptiveness especially by pretending one set of feelings and acting under the influence of another”

I have no problem with Herbstreit at all. He seems like a good father and he does not rub me the wrong way like others (Mark May) etc. during his broadcasts. I think he has been fair to Penn State over the years and personally I like when he calls our games. Not sure what the hate is about.

2016. Penn State doesn't pass the eyeball test. --Kirk Herbstreit

Please don't let this thread dissolve into an anti-Herbie fest. Keep the focus on Barkley, as good of a kid to come along in CFB in a long, long time. Oh, and he's a pretty decent player as well. We are getting the privilege of experiencing up close and personal a generational (lifetime?) player. Don't miss out on it.

Some people call him Maurice.

Thanks. That was about as good as it gets from someone Saquon's age. Lotta love for him from the two interviewers.

"I think the Indiana game answered that question" brought down the house.

Whether he intended it or not, Kirk extended Joe a huge compliment.

If Saquon's attitude is the norm, Franklin's team has truly bought into his philosophy.

Yes, enjoy every second of having this kid play for Penn State no matter the outcomes of the games or this season. Super nice kid off the field and a killer on it.

The media has already anointed SB as the Heisman winner. if he breaks 100 yards in most games, and if PSU does not lose more than one, it is his

If PSU loses one game and SB has less than 100 yds rushing in that game, he won't win the Heisman. The media will immediately jump on one of the west coast guys who are putting up big numbers - one of the QB's or running backs.

Childers and neuhisal were already dissing SB earlier this week about his NW performance and Childers (who has a vote) was very adamant that SB wasn't even in his top 3 as of now.

I'm not sure how anyone could hate Herbie after the compliments he gave PSU in this interview.

More importantly, someday SB will be the ultimate ambassador of PSU and PSU football. He is immensely talented, but tries his best to be humble and give credit to others.

In the end, the Heisman doesn’t usurp SB’s team goals. These morons that think every game should be a highlight film are blowhards. SB wants to win games. Heisman would be phenomenal but that’s secondary.

That was one of the best interviews I've ever had. Herbstreit genuinely is impressed with Barkley, and I really liked the way he described and asked about 'what sets PSU players apart from others, and why is it so consistent across generations'... for PSU it is why we take such pride in...

WE ARE.... PENN STATE

It is very difficult to explain to someone who has never been a part of the community/experience for an extended period of time.

Great stuff. Herbie all but said he wants his kids to grow up like PSU players. I don't recall a more complimentary remark about any squad anywhere. Saquon is such a rare thing in 2017 in any sport. Great interview!
When push came to shove, Herbstreit showed his biased colors. Penn State simply didn't pass the eye test. Clemson 31 OSU 0. Now THAT is an eye test.
He can eye wash our fan base all he wants. He has no credibility, with me. Just my opinion. Nobody has to agree.

Well said about SB. I also find the anti-Herbie comments curious considering that he was forced to move out of Ohio because of some fans. Yeah he's still a Buckeye. Some of my best friends are Buckeyes too.

Herbs is a great chameleon, when threatened he turns scarlet and grey. Then he uses his platform and runs his mouth about OSU being the best one loss team with a chance to make it in. Started the other night 6 games into the season.

He has been more than fair to PSU over the years IMO, but you're more than entitled to your opinion.

I think the negative feelings come with his vocal intimacy of the OSU program.
Those that follow any program closely know the difference between success and failure, wins and losses can be very small.
Some viewers prefer hearing just analysis of the game vs. that more in depth of the program that Herbie does for his alma mater, especially when he is unable to do the same for the opposition. It can come off as being a braggart or a sore homer loser, when OSU wins, they deserve it, when they don't, they did it to themselves.
Many on this board believe with reason OSU squeaked by against PSU while having significant experience and talent advantage.
I generally enjoy Herbie, but if feel if he can't give equal time to both parties, he should stick to the lowest common denominator.

I don't understand all of the Herbie hate either. I think he calls a good game and is mostly fair in his analysis. Sure his bias comes out every now and then for OSU. I keep hearing the PSU not passing the eye-test comment from last year, but he also said the morning after the Big 10 Championship that he stayed up all night thinking about it and thought PSU belonged in the playoff. He felt the committee would choose Washington, but he felt PSU deserved it more. Doesn't sound anti-PSU to me.
