Maybe its been done before but with the looming change, seems appropriate to profile the longevity around here.
Check your profile if you are not sure when you started, or go back to your initial board name if you changed.
I'm 5 months shy of 20.

i remember the recruiting targets list with the yellow legal pad style background. think i found the site around the time Kareem McKenzie committed. Still remember names of targets from the late 90s -- Albert Grundy, Tereia Smalls, Omar Montavo -- where are they now?

I specifically recall being on Plotit for Arrington's recruitment. I sort of remember Dan Kendra, which would have been a couple years earlier than that, but I am not certain I got my info on Kendra from the board.

This is my second username, although I rarely posted under the first. I actually liked psuplaybook back then, especially along with their chats, but then they got sold and went to shit. Nittanyfootball was interesting, but very limited.

I remember a lot of the Dan Kendra stuff and the Chris Simms debacle but Simms might have been the old AOL board? Maybe?

I joined the Plotit board in the 90’s and one of the discussions on the board at the time was if JoePa retired, who would replace him? This was after the 1994 season and 1995 Rose Bowl. I replied Jim Tressel because he was an unknown to most on the board at the time. I mainly joined for football recruiting news, and found the board because I searched Penn State Football Recruiting. It was called the Tom McAndrew Penn State Football Recruiting or something like that IIRC.

So I think maybe it was the mid 90’s, but that would have to be confirmed by Mr. McAndrew.

Does anybody know when the Plotit board started? Had to be in the '93 timeframe, no?

I just looked it up. Apparently I joined December 3, 2001. Would have been 20 years. Wow. I’ll miss it, for sure.

I was in very, very early on.

A paid subscriber.

My credit card had expired after a few years of steady billing, they cancelled my subscription right away, and I got used to only the free stuff.

Had they simply given a grace period, I would have re-upped, I'm sure.

Since 2003 or 2004 I believe. Under a few different monikers the first year or so. The first version of my current name was banned about 2 minutes after my very first post...

I was on PlotIt and other college football websites (main one was ESPN College Football site - I think Tom posted there too) while at Penn State in the mid-90s as 'no name nitts'. I think I 'officially' joined BWI in 2004 while stationed in Germany.

Sometime before Kevin Jones pulled his switcheroo at his announcement ceremony., because I remember being so pissed off at the time. Back when downloads took forever!
I joined somewhere around that time as well. I remember the Chris Simms and Kevin Jones recruiting, not sure about Dan Kendra but it would make sense since he played high school near my hometown and I'd have been interested in his recruitment. I was a student at the time and was seeking recruiting info and somehow found Plotit (this was before Google and the better search engines we have now) which was a great source for little known recruiting info at the time.

Mine says 2001 but I know I was here before that. 🤷‍♂️
And I've had this username from the start and amazingly enough never banned or put in a TO.😂
I think they reset the dates at some point. I definitely joined prior to 2001 too and I've never changed my username. I bet many users were reset to a similar date due to some technology changes or something.

I think you are correct and it might have coincided with the "likes" button, the Trophy point (whatever the hell that was) and the topic/thread view. Although I do remember there was a hybrid option for a while.
I blame STEP or Jay.;)

I was PSU Blue on ESPN just before I recall finding the plotit board.

I actually met up with a handful of those guys at The Dubliner or Irish Times in DC.

There was also a group of about 6-10 of us in an email group called the Ball St. Club. Carol was a member, Marsh was in it, Rick (who I think might have been an usher at gate C), Gregg that used to wear a Jester hat to the games and a few others. It was just group that talked PSU football. It was fun for awhile but went sideways after the Minny '99 game. I bet you can guess who caused it to go off the rails.

I was on Plotit back sometime around 1996, back then the Parade All-America list was the recruiting highlight of the year.

Here is the one that LaVar was player of the year.

My late wife was undergoing her third and final battle with cancer when our teen son found the Plotit site to try to get me out of my constant worry in the summer of 1994.

I think Scott Eisensmith (a Michigan State alum ?) ran it with Tom. I am deeply appreciative to Tom for keeping up with this Board , for it has helped me in so many ways to cope with many differing and difficult life situations.

Thank you, Tom.

I got my Kendra information on a visit to Penn State with a friend from Lock Haven who was friends with one of the guys that may have hosted him for his official visit. I can distinctly remember they guy say saying, “That dude’s ****ing nuts” when I asked about him.

I would send Scott donations to help fund the board.
I would pay something too but nothing close to $99. I donate to Wikipedia because I feel it is a very good resource which over-and-over provides information I look for, without all the ads, and I believe they asked for $15 or so, but don't require a fee.
I enjoy this board, (especially after learning to block the caustic posters), and the 'kindred friendships' with many posters, and the help and commiseration we get on problems or issues. It to me is like 'Cheers' was to all the characters:

"Climbing the walls when no one calls
You've lost at love again
And the more you're down and out
The more you need a friend
When you long to hear a kind hello."

"Sometimes you want to go
Where everybody knows your name
And they're always glad you came
You want to be where you can see
Our troubles are all the same
You want to be where everybody knows your name."

I am sure Tom is reading these posts.......and often fighting back a few tears.
