How many of you understand that Ciarroca sabotaged this program?

Thanks for the tip.
Tell me what you think is working for but is not working and I will ask my Dr not to prescribe that worthless stuff.

I had high hopes for Roberson but he looked small on the field and didn’t show much arm strength. I thought he would end up at a school like James Madison, university of Delaware, etc. He was never going to be a starter at Penn State.
UConn is on the same level as James Madison in reality.

Correct, UCONN is not the same program that Skip Holtz transitioned to D1 and Joe Moorhead led (as OC) to the Fiesta Bowl. They have gone backwards with the destruction of Big East football. JMU may even be ahead them at this point and they are just starting D1 play.

Bottom line Roberson was never prepared to play QB last year even at mid season. It cost PSU a 10-2 season! Had he been they would have beaten both Iowa and Illinois and allowed Clifford to fully heal.

That’s bad coaching. Evidently he will be starting at UCONN this year so that indicates some sort of skill level for the kid that for whatever reason the PSU staff never tried to tap. One of the biggest coaching gaffes at PSU in a long time, maybe all time, and Franklin got a raise.

Bad coaching yes but you are giving them too much credit for Iowa. Iowa was within a score before Clifford's injury actually impacted the game, had momentum and their offensive and defensive adjustments were working. It is all hypothetical, but they had about a pretty good chance of winning without the injury much less throwing in a run first dual threat QB even if he were prepared.

Tell us how you would have won the game Coach Wally?

Imagine thinking UConn starting him means anything about our program. The only mistake me made was recruiting him
Yeah, starting at Conn is a completely different game. Doesn’t mean anything about Penn State.

Kids are weird. Maybe he fits their system far better. Maybe he and the coaches click. Maybe he loves the school atmosphere and is far happier there, maybe he grew up and matured and put in more effort.

Look at Joe Burrows. From stuck on the bench...makes a move....wins Heisman.....top draft pick......great. NFL qb.

Trying to project the development of a 16 or 17 year old male, is a difficult task. Even the pros swing and miss. Look at the guys picked before Derek Jeter in the MLB draft.
To accurately evaluate signing him would require knowing what other QBS were available and willing to sign with PSU.
In addition, it is fair to mention that when he signed, the staff anticipated having Cliff and Levis ahead of him.....and didn't know CV would be disciplined.

Everything you said was funny in the "nonsensical" funny kind of way. You can criticize prior coaches without being ridiculous
Except for the undeniable fact it is true. Not being ridiculous. Look at his offense. It is 100% what I said it was. 80% what was run at Western Michigan and a handful of college gimmicks to broaden accessibility. Nothing more, nothing less.

So, it's okay with you that your OC doesn't do his job or even show up for a year and screws your alma mater. Though your posts make me doubt you are a graduate.
Has Sciracco said anything about his time at Penn State? Only spent one year here. Have a feeling he and Franklin did get along. Probably a difference in offensive philosophy. Or other issues.

Doubt he said much as wise people don’t burn bridges or dump on old bosses as it really turns off new bosses and limits opportunity. But would like to get his perspective.

It's not true--you overrating a QB that would have never been successful here regardless of the coaching staff. Even the article clearly indicates he throw the ball well but struggles. It's UConn. Half of FCS would be favored against them.

He actually didn't even overrate TR. He compared him to Trace, whom he didn't much care for. The comp was meant completely as a slight to Franklin.

I don't "much care for" Trace either but that doesn't make the comparison any less absurd.

It is true. Look at Trace. He struggled to throw the ball. He lacked precisions. Could not consistently throw most routes. Trace got by on moxie, Barkley, Gesicki and Godwin. Whether Roberson has the moxie is anyone's guess but Barkley, Gesicki and Godwin covered his flaws and then some, and then some more. Oh, and he had steady Eddy in DeaSean Hamilton and the ultimate non-system coordinator whose philosophy was build an offense around his players skillset. A coordinator we should have hired at HC after letting Franklin walk. JoeMo has years of experience tailoring an offense that ranged from true pro-style west coast offense (run by JoeMo acolyte Charlie Frye who was recently hired by Franklin by the way) to modified west coast which got UConn to the Fiesta Bowl to a true college spread tailored to Trace which got us to three NY6 games and whose philosophy directly influenced Joe Brady's work at LSU (hint, what Brady did there is what JoeMo wanted to do at PSU with Hack as QB). In the spread era, the Xs and Os are frequently as important, and sometimes more important the Jimmy's and Joe's. That is a fact.

Trace has earned 2 million the past four seasons from the NFL
Coach Wally plays with his metric

Spot on and that’s why he never got a sniff from the pro’s - zero talent and weak in all aspects of the game - you are an excellent talent evaluator.

JoMo did a terrible with Saquon B who would have won the Heisman had JoMo tailored the offense correctly.

St. Joe Mo was leading powerhouse FCS Fordham University when Franklin gave him his first big break.
Another square peg I guess.
