Avoid the misery and follow another team. Watching pro wrestling is also an option.

Well no one ever said intelligence was a prerequisite to posting anti-Franklin on here. In fact, come to think of it lack thereof seems to be par for the course.
There are more posters on this board who want him fired than there are worship freaks like you...and it's glorious.

"The plays work better with better players".............

Franklin's downfall. Not sure he will ever be able to coach up anyone.

The fact is that Franklin will be here for a while. You can criticize him and second guess him on this site, but doing it will only make PSU look bad as an option for HS prospects.

Franklin has his faults but it's the quarterback. This quarterback just doesn't know how to win games. Everything has fallen apart since this quarterback has been the starter.
You can't sit around destroying the momentum of a program waiting for a 24 year old quarterback to develop. That's on the coach but it's the play of the quarterback that is the biggest problem. Problem with the most important position = problem with the whole team.
Clifford finished the season 64th in passing efficiency, which is among the worst for a senior class quarterback, sans a couple seniors on not so good non-power 5 teams. The only power 5 senior qbs that were worse than Clifford were at Duke, Rutgers, Illinois, Kansas, California, WVU & Minnesota. That efficiency number will be in the mid 70s after tabulating the bowl game. Clifford was statistically one the worst quarterbacks on a bowl team.
If you think Clifford is gonna become Kenny Pickett, don't hold your breathe.
I get it, Clifford tries real hard and is a loyal, hard working guy that people seem to generally like but he's not a quarterback that's going to lead a team to conference championship or win close games. He has proved that by going 11-11 his junior and senior seasons with losses to teams that have barely even ever beaten Penn State in their history.

All coaches get criticized. I'm sure Day is being bashed right now on their board. Hell, Saban even gets criticized.

You won't get another coach for a while unless you change teams or donate a great deal of money to buy out Franklin. Like it or not that is just the reality of the situation.

We should all want better whether that's from Franklin or another coach.
I have not seen you post here before, so when I offend you, apologies.
But, this is like earth-shaking profound! We should want better. No sh!t.
My problem with people who post here are the ones who are so miserable in their life that it’s a constant every game, almost every day, bitch, bitch, bitch.
You people blow my mind that you can complain each and every post.
We understand you are not happy. Can’t think anyone is. But, your life must truly be shitty if you can’t walk away from 18-24 year olds playing a game. If this is your only means of entertainment, God help you.
Go find a different team. Better yet, find something that the success will be dependent on you and you alone - not on a football program.
Just get a life and stop bitching about things you cannot control.

Please. Questioning here or pointing out poor play doesn’t make Penn St look bad for HS prospects. They aren’t stupid. They see it plain as day in front of them in person and on the tv screen.

Holy f some of you are some whiny bitches. The last two seasons have sucked and we all want more wins and better play, but some of you are just consumed by how the team does.

Get a life, get a hobby, get drunk, go bang your wife or whore, whatever. Some of you just love to be miserable and negative. Sad.

Outta here.

I agree but the problem is that, at the end of the day, this all falls on Franklin.

Yes Clifford’s been pretty bad but Franklin keeps putting him back in and doesn’t pull him to try and shake things up. The backup doesn’t get any real experience.

Not only that, he’s allowing Clifford to come back again for next year which pushes the QB rotation back a year.

Yeah, quite possible (likely in my mind) that each of Veilleux, Allar, and Pribula have a higher ceiling than Clifford as a college QB. Begin the transition.

Fair enough but I feel like bitching is pretty much the point of most message boards lol
And you don't need to apologize for potentially offending me. I hope no one taking these things that personally but I'm sure some do.

I just hope there's actually competition for the job next season. I wouldn't blame Veilleux at all for jumping ship. Hate the concept of the portal but with Allar being brought in I'm surprised he didn't leave already.

Was that mocking, or irony?
That's funny. Seriously, we need to engage in some education on this board. How many posters seem to think that an apostrophe is necessary to make a word plural? It's an epidemic.

The player's are in the locker room. NO! WRONG.

This hits the nail on the head. And yeah, that decision is on Franklin. I understand it's hard for a coach to bench a veteran QB who has been loyal and hard working. CJF should have stuck with Will Levis when he temporarily benched SC in 2020. It might have been a bad short term move, but would have improved the long term by playing the guy with a higher ceiling. 2022 will bring a similar decision.

Not winning football. Gimmick garbage.
Franklin’s explanation for the fake was that he thought they’d get a pass interference call or likely have the other team intercept it which would have been as good as a punt.

Apparently he didn’t consider the incomplete pass, turnover on downs right where they were possibility. 😡

Great job defending Franklin with insults instead of facts.
I have defended and criticized Franklin with facts frequently. For example, I have stated repeatedly that he deserves blame for the Illinois fiasco. However, I challenged his haters who blame everything on his alleged inept coaching to name what alleged coaching “blunders” he made in the Michigan and MSU loses and I haven’t seen anyone mention any. Franklin didn’t miss a critical FG or give up a game losing 47 yard TD to a TE on a simple crossing pattern thrown 5 yards beyond the line of scrimmage with less than 4 minutes to go against Michigan. He correctly decided to punt down 7 on 4th and short on his side of midfield on the first possession against MSU The punt is downed at the MSU 1. The result? MSU marches 99 yards to go up 14-0 with the drive starting with a 33 yard run off tackle. Franklin also didn’t give up the game losing TD in that game on 3rd and 15 either. As I said in other posts, Paterno frequently said there are 4 or 5 plays that determine the outcome of close games and the winning team makes most of them and the losing team doesn’t. With the possible exception of OSU and the bowl game today, that explains in large part, the other losses

Levis did diddly when he replaced Clifford.

Bet he's not now... last i checked those other guys have championships to hang their criticism on.

It’s called accountability…it is time for some and not for pay raises.

We need a new start.

Barring some unforeseen mishap or scandal, PSU and James Franklin are solidly connected, likely for the next several years.

Perhaps you should find a new cause, or a new hobby, since demanding a change at Head Coach anytime soon appears futile.

It's possible to follow the team and comment good or bad without obsessing about the Coach.

You may be right.

But it is the multi-millionaire HFC that is responsible. But he is not being held accountable. I suspect that paying fans will soon do that. Possible as early as the first home game following the season-opening loss at Purdue.

I think lack of accountability is a real problem. You wonder why the same problems are seen year after year? There’s a stagnation that sets in when no one is held accountable. It’s seen at all levels at Penn State.

The players aren’t held accountable for their play. Luketa apparently said the D played ‘great’ today. They gave up 353 rushing yards in a blowout loss to Arkansas. The Arkansas QB had 110 rushing yards alone.

The head coach isn’t held accountable for the team play. He just got a 10 year, $85 million contract extension after back to back 4-5 and 7-6 seasons.

The athletic director has no accountability. She just hires more and more associate/ assistant athletic directors to further insulate herself from any real decision making. How’s that fundraising going on the facility master plan? We don’t hear anything about that anymore and we’re about 5+ years (IIRC) in since it was announced.

The president is not held accountable for PSU’s falling academic standing and rankings or the prohibitive cost of attendance. He’s received bonuses and raises every year and undoubtedly will get a building named after him in a few months. Meanwhile Penn State’s academic standing has fallen each year.
