Did you ever notice that Bill O'Brien tends to start his answering to questions by saying....Again, ____________? I don't know if it is just a bad habit, or he was asked that question several times before by other media people in the past. If it was the first time that question is asked, don't say Again!

You can insert pretty much any coach with the denials. I honestly think it is more about UMD trying to create a buzz about that awful job than anything else.

No. It is Obrien or his agent trying to create the buzz. The reporter said Obrien would be interested. That is not coming from UMD. That is coming from Obrien's camp.

Keep in mind a reporter also once said that Franklin would be interested in the Miami job. This crap happens all the time

Even his first offseason, he used rumors of other offers to get more from PSU, including an upfront cash payment to pay for a vaca home in Cape Cod ("allegedly"). He's a mercenary dude. Don't care for him.

I found it interesting that in last night's game, OB is *still* given a pass for his awful team. More than once they lamented his lack of having a 'first round' QB - yeah, no sh*t, if every team had one, they would all be a lot better. He seems to have been given a permanent pass for his ineptitude. Awesome work if you can get it.

That comment was probably made more as a jab at front office/ownership...becauss BOB could have had a first round QB. It was sitting right there, and they passed on it. LOL @ Houston...they sign a QB coach and then don't draft a QB with their pick. Not many folks have done THAT. SMH.

Franklin denied it and we have not heard about it again. With Bob he would leave the door open and say all he cares about his his kid. The same reporter would then report the same story the next week and every week. Bob was leaking the stories. He was DAve Jones source.

Screw BOB. Houston fans are tired of his act. He is planning his exit strategy and his next big payday.

Only one person looks out for BOB and his family, and that's BOB. I can't fault him for getting everything that he can. Other parts of his style I can, but not the money aspect. In fact, if I am to be perfectly honest, I lost a fair amount of respect for him when he renegotiated his contract and got very little for his efforts.

Do you live in Houston? I do. Fans down here love him.

Yeah, mixed feelings about O'Brien. Did a good job at PSU under difficult circumstances.

Haven't heard a recent mention of his special needs son. When he accepted the Texans jobs, O'Brien talked about how pleased he was with the medical facilities in Houston and the individual care his son would receive. yeah, the DC Metro area has fine medical facilities, too, but I'm a bit surprised O'Brien is checking the exits.

Obrien is a punk. He can't take the heat and he runs for the exit.

Yeah, I agree with a lot that is said here. If he really is not considering the position and the report is inaccurate he really goes about diffusing it in a peculiar and ineffective way. How modus operandi is to sort of lash out at the reporter, acknowledge they are just doing their job, then sort of emphasis he is the current coach of the team. It literally evades the question entirely, it's borderline political. I mean, why not just say "no, I'm not interested in that position," or "we just won a game, I have no comments about next year." The reason he doesn't say this is because the truth is...."i am the coach here right now, but should I get offered one dollar more somewhere else...or, should this organization ever think of firing me based on performance, I want to make sure there are a lot of coals in my personal hot stove."

O'Brien and Cornrich can plan all they want, but they don;t control how he exits Houston and his next payday is unlikely to be as large as his current one.

He's positioning vis a vis Rick Smith. Judging by his experience at PSU the political game is not one that O'Brien plays well.

The guy who begins every response with "Again, ..."? Yeah, I know that guy. I think we all know that guy.
