I have almost zero interest in this Super Bowl

I'm actually the opposite. I loved the NFL almost as much as I love college football. But since the kneeling, I simply won't watch. I don't miss it on a normal Sunday (or Monday, or Thursday, used to watch each time slot), but I really do care that the Eagles win this one. I just can't bring myself to watch it to support the NFL after the kneeling and the incident recently with the AMVETs commercial. I love football, but unless I see change, I only see college games and the XFL when that returns.

My wife likes the commercials, so it will be on the TV. But I may find something on Netflix on my computer.
As much as I love to watch college football, the NFL is quickly fading down my interest list.
If the Eagles weren't in it, I wouldn't watch. I've cut my viewing of all spectator sports by about 90% over the past few years. To me it is a monumental waste of time. There are so many other things I do instead to actally enrich my life. I only wish I had stopped sooner. That said, I won't argue that I hold the high ground. Many people treat sports for what they are.... a diversion from the stress of daily life. I got caught up in the wrestling match last night and all my worries and cares took a back seat. Still, reading a good book, or listening to some favorite music would have accomplished the same thing. To each his own.

I won't start an argument on this thread-but Ray Lewis was just elected into the Hall Of Fame. The league has had a variety of felons get second third and fourth chances.

And because a couple of guys take a knee -that's the straw that breaks the camels back for you?

That's the one huh?

Wow.

So you are going to watch then?

Is this another Ranger Dan style boycott?? Where you start a thread saying you're not going to watch and then end up watching??

I don't agree with the significant number of criminals that the NFL employs either which seems to have increased significantly in recent years. I don't boycott other organizations that employ former felons (who do you think is stocking shelves at night at many places you shop).

But yes, as a retired military officer, I take personal offense to the kneelers choosing to disrespect our flag, our Nation, and those who have served it. I carried one particular flag to and raised it above each of my unit's camps in several combat zones as a young Captain because it has a personal meaning to me.

I have a hard time understanding why someone would choose to intentionally disrespect our flag in a misguided attempt to further their argument. Kaeperdick and followers said that they cannot support a Country that they perceive certain injustices while they made millions throwing a ball around, but name one Country that has given more opportunity to more people of more diverse backgrounds. Victims? Yes, of allowing themselves to be used as political puppets.

Look, I could understand making this comment if it were the Patriots playing the Cardinals. But knowing that this board is full of Philly fans, it kind of makes you look foolish. Even some Philly fans that may have raised their middle finger to the NFL when the kneeling started are probably back in the fold for this game. Let them enjoy their moment.

That being said, as a Pittsburgh sports fan, I still vividly remember a moment at Penn State in 1992 that forever shaped my attitude towards Philly fans. I was a sophomore at Penn State and the Pirates were playing the Braves. When Sid Bream scored for Atlanta to end the Pirates hopes, Philly fans on campus erupted in cheers. My first thought was, "I can't believe how many Braves fans are here at Penn State".... so I thought. My roommate informed me, "those aren't Braves fans, they are Philly fans". I have not forgotten, nor have I forgiven.

Go Patriots!!!

When I saw the Patriots were in it again, I lost all interest. I only have mild interest in the Eagles, but I suppose it's enough to have it on tonight. This is the first year I am not attending nor hosting a super bowl party.

I’ll have it on until the kids go to bed. Then I’ll watch what I want.

Seems like you've got a lot of company, as you're about the 20th person to post this in the past few weeks...

Wait, actually it was just you posting it 20 different times.

How does Trump's butt taste?

LMAO at those watching the purity of college football only. You do realize where the NFL gets it’s supposed thugs from right? NCAA is just as corrupt as the NFL. If you don’t think so, I guess you believe in Santa Claus too. I love football. Enjoy it for what it is.

So you are equally offended I assume about them carrying the flag horizontally during pregame, painting the flag on the field and adorning the flag to a sports uniform. All of which are actually violations of the flag code (unlike kneeling which is not)

It feels to me like super bowl hype has retreated to 1980s levels. That is not bad, IMO, as it had gotten steadily more ridiculous through the 90s, 00s and beyond

Pro football has turned into a joke. Replay has ruined Pro football.

Just more babble about nothing....

Agree... yet this was likely the most entertaining SB of all time.. I would hate to have missed this one

No, one of those actions is taken for intentional disrespect. The others are attempted displays of patriotism (I will have to take your word for it as I did not watch). I honestly don't give a damn about code. It is about loving and respecting the greatest Nation on Earth. If that is in the form of a hot chick in a somewhat flag themed bikini, then so be it.

Just be an American first. Not a democrat, republican, African, Mexican, Asian, gay, bisexual, etc American. Be an American first. Still be proud of what makes you uniquely you, but be incredibly thankful to be an American.

Awesome. You missed a good Super Bowl.
