I watched Ala, ND, LSU, and Michigan play yesterday. I can honestly say that

there isn't a team that can stay with Bama. The only caveat is that I haven't seen Clemson. Bama would beat by Michigan or ND by 5 TDs. They are truly on a different level this year.

I think Bama is clearly #1. But that doesn't make them unbeatable if somebody has a good day while they have a bad one.

Clemson is getting better week to week. From what I see they are the only legit team to challenge Alabama. Stout defense and an offense starting to click with the new WB. Wish I could say that PSU is improving week to week.

But we hear from people here weekly that it’s easy for Bama because they play 1 less conference team than other P5 powers outside the SEC and play a cupcake late in the year instead of early in the year.

Being in the Big 10 and having to spout the company line (in order to make us look better by association), has warped several posters sense of logic on here.

If they can beat Michigan by 5 TDs then I guess Bama would beat PSU by 11 TDs.
Don’t know about that, but they’d run 100+ plays and ground our front 7 into mincemeat.

If Michigan plays them, I’ll put heavy odds that Winovich in particular doesn’t light up the scoresheet. That OL for Bama will demoralize him by the 2nd Q.

Bama is in a totally different class this year. If you’re a long time Michigan fan, think of the 70s when the Big 2 would drill every team in conference and then get trucked by a Pac10 team. Now it’s the SEC doing the trucking.

Five TDs is a lot, but otherwise I agree.

Nobody with any sense doubts that Bama is the best but that doesn’t diminish the success of Clemson, ND, Michigan and a few others.

I agree with the OP, Bama is in a different universe than anybody else. As a life-long LSU fan this loss hurts, but it's not surprising. As for Clemson they are good enough that they AND Alabama could beat Bama.

Caveat being the operative word here. Selections for winning the championship should only be:
Bama
Clemson
The Field

They were so impressive last night. They have enormous amounts of talent, but they are also so disciplined (coaching). I was blown away by how good their offensive line is. Big, strong, athletic and they play with a chip on their shoulder. Will be an interesting matchup if they meet up with Clemson due to Clemson's all world defensive line. Michigan has a solid team, but lets not get out of hand by the beat down yesterday. With how PSU has played on offense this year the game getting out of hand wasn't all that surprising even though it was difficult to watch.

Actually, it should be:

1.) Alabama - Starters
2.) Alabama - 2nd String
3.) Alabama - 3rd String
4.) Alabama - 4th String

No one else is even close to being worthy. And if they are 5 TDs better than Michigan, then that means Michigan is worse than lowly Arkansas if Bama kicks all their extra points.

I guess it's a darn good thing we're not in the SEC, because we would never be able to compete with all that SEC strength and speed. There is no question we would be dead last.

The offense for Bama is the difference. The defense is always excellent. Most years, they had a Julio Jones or a Calvin Ridley to compliment the stout OL and stable of backs. Usually they had a game manager at QB.

This year, they got 4 WRs who are Jones/Ridley talent level. 3 RBs who are big and fast. 2 TEs who can block and catch (Smith is the player they pretended OJ Howard was going to be). QB can run and throw.

They could have a bad game and still win. They are just better than everyone else. It’s hard to say if Clemson can stay with them because Clemson plays a bunch of hot garbage.

They were saying that about Miami when we played them in the 87 Fiesta Bowl. ;)

Clemson would have a shot at beating them because the Dline of Clemson is pretty awesome and could take over the game and keep it low scoring. Plus Clemson has enough big play ability on offense to maybe hit a few big pass plays.

ND would get beat by 24+ points, it would not be close. ND would be lucky to score 10 points. Bama would score 30+ easy.

Michigan has a punchers chance. There defense is good enough to keep it close. There offense would really slow the game down to limit total possession by both teams. Would need to get lucky on offense with a big run or scramble and win the turnover battle.

Clemson or UGA are probably the only teams that have the athletes to hang with the Tide. That said I don't see either of them being able to execute on the level necessary to actually beat them. ND and Michigan are not even in the same zip code. They would be like bugs on the windshield of an 18 Wheeler.

Scary part is they might be able to beat penn state them by 7-10 touch downs. If you don' think otherwise you have not seen Alabama play this year.

If Penn State played bama this year, no doubt, a number of people here would predict a Penn State victory.

"This is the week Penn State plays a complete game. I see a victory."

"Rahne will open up the playbook. bama's defense won't be ready for Trace, The Lion, Sanders, all those receivers..."

"The defense has been improving and puts it all together this week. We win."

Agree. I think LSU showed that a team with a good defense can hang with Bama....but that team needs to produce more than 0 points. The LSU offense is not very good.
Clemson can definitely hang.
Lines right now:
Bama -8.5 vs Clemson
Bama -20.5 vs ND
Bama -14 vs UM

No, they would predict a loss, but then when we did lose, they would say with better coaching and a better scheme we could have won and it’s all on the coaches for not having them ready to play.

Followed, of course, by how one bad call turned the entire momentum of the game in Alabama's favor, which is why they were able to win 76-3. And if you think otherwise you are not a true Penn State fan.

The real advantage is that Michigan is allowed to hold on offense & defense…we aren’t.

Actually those will a big disadvantage to Meatchicken if they are invited to the CFP.
