IF OSU beats Michigan, They will both make it...

That seems to be popular opinion but 1 loss Michigan vs. 1 loss Clemson would be a very interesting debate. If schedules hold chalk, Michigan has better resume even with a loss to OSU.

Clemson has wins over 3 top 25 teams (Auburn, FSU, Louisville) and loss to unranked team (although Pitt probably breaks in around 22 or 23 this week)

Michigan would have wins over 3 potential top 10 teams if all win out (Wisconsin, PSU and Colorado) ...and loss to top 5 team.

How much emphasis would the ACC championship game have?

Auburn and FSU are 50/50 to end the regular season in Top 25

I don't see OSU jumping a 1 loss Clemson team that wins the ACC championship game. Clemson isn't some flash in the pan PAC 10 team like Washington

I agree...one loss SEC champ, one loss Big champ, one loss ACC champ and one loss PAC 12 champ all make it in. I think we see Bama, OSU/UM, Clemson and Washington even if they all lose prior to their championship game. If they lose their championship game, all bets are off.

Pitt's win could have started the ball rolling for PSU to the Rose Bowl.....

That ball has already been rolling regardless of Pitt/Clemson game.

If PSU wins out, only these scenarios put another team in Rose.

1 - Michigan wins out and either 2 loss OSU or 3 loss Wisconsin stay ranked ahead of PSU. No real chance of the later given PSU and Wisky are 7 and 10 right now....a 3rd loss for Wisky would drop them out of top 10.

2 - OSU wins out and Michigan a) does not make playoff and b) stays ranked ahead of PSU with their 1 loss.

Another scenario has UM losing before OSU, and OSU beating UM. PSU wins out, makes championship game & wins. There's a fair chance PSU makes playoff in that universe. No rose bowl then :)

If you don't WIN your conference you don't belong in the playoff.

ACC probably doesn't belong in the playoff if clemson isn't in it. Do you want an auto bid for the conference champ? It sure sounds like it.

If by some chance, Michigan, Ohio State and Alabama wouldn't make the playoff, it will speed up the process to an 8-team playoff.

Unlikely since Auburn lost today as even a one-loss non-SEC champ Bama would still make the playoff now. Bama would have to lose the Iron Bowl and the SECCG to not make it now.

In 2011 Alabama didn't even win their division (LSU did) nor play in the SECCG obviously (LSU vs GA) but beat LSU to win the NC.

Wasn't that before the playoffs? I would be wary of using anything from before the playoffs as an example.

I just don't want you in the playoff if you lost your conference. In the best of all possible worlds I want 8 conferences with the winners advancing to an 8 team playoff.

They should not have had that opportunity. Thought so then and still think so today.
