If PSU starts slow against USC

Wouldn't you consider Penn State to be a second half team? What's your point
Agreed--we absolutely are
USC came back against Michigan (still lost) and Wisconsin in the second half so there's some logic there.
We 100% make great adjustments this year and play better after half time.

That poster must be anti USC or something because he's trying to angle everything saying that the Trojans aren't good. They have clearly been more battle tested than Penn State from a schedule standpoint and I would venture to say if they win on the road at minnesota, beat LSU and Wisconsin they certainly have better wins to date.

Truthfully, that's what scares me about USC--they've actually seen really good teams this year--we haven't.

My point is that the title/topic of this thread seems especially stupid if the announcer's assessment is correct.

I'm quite certain the point that the topic poster was making is that we can't get away with bad starts anymore as the schedule gets tougher and not playing these mediocre to crappy opponents. USC is far too talented for us to be coming out wasting the first 15 minutes of the game next week.

See...that could be believable but for this "who have been publicly fellating USC"
USC is a second half team--I agree that a slow start won't kill us against them (see previously) but we don't want to start slow next week and definitely can't against Ohio State even if they also tend to start a bit slow.

Right that's just it.. both teams are second half football teams for sure. But USC has explosive personnel in the backfield and at wide receiver and we have yet to face a team like that obviously... so a sluggish start is problematic. This team has some bad habits coming out of the gates whether it be mentally ready or focus but that needs to change quickly. And it goes without saying that if we don't get Nick back our odds are long

USC will lose this. Damn...takes a bit of shine off our game and even more pressure to win. This becomes the most pivotal game for the program in quite a while...especially with a win.

This is a very beatable trojans team, and if it's not now, then when for james and company. Granted, college football is all week to week and it's all about matchups and how you fit schematically, which is why teams many times look different one week to the next. But if we can't break through and climb the mountain and get a win next week, I don't know when we will.

I just can't wait for the excuses that would come on this thread if we lose about facilities and buy in from the university and all that other garbage...especially if we're as good as most people proclaim on here...and usc is as bad

Yeah, it just went from "a big game" to a "must win game"
Maybe USC pulls off a miracle

Exactly....our roster certainly has more talent top to bottom...not at some positions, but most. It is a must win. Just has to be. Which is why my confidence is low until we see differently.

That's all we really disagree about--I'm actually confident in this one though that may be misguided. We'll find out but I think we play our A game next week

I hope so...but these are the type of games we just haven't won since 2017....I'll believe it when I see it. Not falling for fools gold anymore

What types of games? Games against 2+ loss teams ranked in the mid to high teens?

So now all of a sudden USC is bad….funny how that works, they go from a team we can’t beat to one that’s not good in one week’s time.

They went 8-5 with Caleb Williams at QB last year in the Pac-12. Not sure why people were building them up. They're not the Michigan/OSU teams we've played for the last 3 years.

I think it's "they're the second best team we play" logic--that's usually Michigan/Ohio State
