If this was a 4 team playoff....

would Penn State have been in?
Probably not but who knows

It should have been
Penn State vs Georgia
Texas vs Oregon
but I'm guessing we'd have been bumped for ND as I don't think the 4 CCG participants would all be in

Sorry - but we’re probably the 7th-10th best team in the country. Deserve to be in a 12 team playoff but not in a 4 team. I don’t think this team can beat Oregon, Texas, Ohio State, Georgia, Notre Dame, Alabama, Tennessee probably too.

Why can’t we beat them? We’ll add up an annual 10th - 15th best recruiting rankings with a coach who can’t beat more talented rosters - that’s what you get. Then the cherry on top is that we usually get players who want out ASAP - via portal or NFL.

No idea how you have ND on that list or Tennessee

When’s the last time a CJF team played a complete game in all three phases against a top 10 team and won? He has 2 wins against teams that finished top 10 in the AP Poll. Wisonsin and OSU in ‘16 - that’s it. These clown posts get old. lol @ Tennessee and Notre Dame. They’d both beat us.

Which current coaches consistently beat more talented teams and also don't lose to less talented teams?

Who coached the Toledo loss? Was that team more talented?

Two more than rhule has for his career.

One less than joe in his first 10 years.

Neither of those teams gace shown anything this year. You have to evaluate both teams not just one. Neither of them are top 5 in reality which is what he struggles with.

E-e-ee-e-ee-ee-e--e!!!!

We can beat any of these teams. Only teams that have been consistently better this season are Oregon and maybe Texas. Georgia, OSU and Alabama have more talent on paper but certainly don't play like it every week.

If we could keep a corner with inside leverage on #15, and safety on the tight ends, we would beat Oregon.

I agree but until Franklin proves he can beat Ohio State we can't put them on that list IMO

Probably - maybe 5th or 6th - but there is no way in hell Notre Lame - with their BS schedule - should be above PSU. Those "holier than thou" a-holes need to join a conference and have a real schedule or eff them. Being from the Chicago area, I can't stand the love they get in that area......just putrid

What a stupid comment. At Narduzzi has more wins against Clemson than Franklin does against Ohio State. Do I need to start unpacking the talent gap being bigger between Pitt and Clemson too?

Clemson isn't as good as Ohio State
The gap means less that the level of talent

There is actually a win against a 3rd team that finished inside the top 10. But since you just feel like bashing Franklin you can find it yourself.

These posts that bash Franklin and don’t get simple facts right get old. At least know your shit.

Hahahaha. I knew I could count on someone to try to “fact check me” and then run their fat mouth.

Hey - I’m 75 - my wife hates me and my kids all moved away. I have all the time in the world to be the geek who scours the record books to try to make up for my own low self esteem. Every time I point out a fact misstated on the interwebs, I feel strong enough to get out of bed the next day. Yes CJF sucks, but he did beat 3 top ten AP teams since 2015, not 2. That moves the argument immensely in the other direction.
Let me do the same.

My guess is the same as yours. They would have put Notre Dame in and not us. Although, I believe Penn State would beat them and may get the chance to prove it. An argument could be made that psu would get in over Texas also.

Pretty insecure to get corrected on a simple fact you got wrong and not just say yea my bad. Whoops.

When you can’t get simple things correct, everything else you say is questionable. Nothing needed to be scoured, it wasn’t obscure. It was the rose bowl that took place less than 24 months ago.

You’re a douchebag. Happy Holidays.

Haha. You can’t help yourself. You need to respond don’t you? Are you really that insecure? Utah could be 9th or 10th or 11th. IDGAF. Franklin doesn’t beat top 10 teams on a regular basis - whether it’s 2 or 3….Sandusky could’ve committed 30 felonies or 29 - thanks for keeping the boards honest jackass. How many was he convicted of for the record?

Except you did, because you were whining like a little b*tch about top 10 wins. That was your threshold, not mine, and you couldn't even get that one right. Your own line in the sand and you tripped over it, which is really difficult to do.

You wanted to bitch about big game wins, but you needed to get cute and assign a number to it. I know the 2022 Rose Bowl win is one of the more forgettable games in recent memory for those who aren't really fans so don't worry your little heart about it.

PSU will beat Oregon if PSU wins the turnover battle. And I also expect PSU to play the quick outside passes better in a rematch.

Before the OSU loss to meat chicken, there is no way PSU would have been in. The mental gymnasts would have found a way to not have 3 B2G teams.
The question is, after the OSU loss, what would have happened...PSU or ND? The gymnasts had been laying the ground work to elevate ND. They were beating the "early loss" drum for a few weeks. IMHO, I don't think they would have put in 2 each from the B2G and SEC, especially with ND at #5.

Oregon, UGA, TX, ND would have been too much for the committee to pass up.

I'm late to the party but I can give you the best answer. The answer is no.

If it had been seeded by BCS Computer Average like most 4 team playoffs ended up being, it would have been:

1 Oregon
*decent gap*
2 Georgia
*another decent gap*
3 Notre Dame
4 Texas
After that:
5 Ohio State
*small gap*
6 Penn State
*big gap*
7 Indiana
8 Boise State

It would have been very close between Texas, tOSU, and PSU for #4 but Texas would have won - barely.

Thanks, Kole Knueppel

Which is why it should just be an 8 team playoff instead of 4 OR 12....

Penn State will more than likely beat Oregon if we don't have to deal with Big Ten official Kole Knueppel and his predisposition to literally never call holding as well as call ridiculous, trifling penalties on Penn State while ignoring stupid crap their opponents (especially Oregon) do. Penn State would be undefeated if not for that referee and it's simply the case that PSU fans are generally too chicken to say this out loud.

Penn State's offense is a bad deal for Oregon. Oregon's defense is uniquely weak, for a variety of reasons, to dynamic tight ends. That's the weak point of their 4-2-5 MINT scheme. Does that sound familiar? Do you think Penn State might have, oh, I don't know, 3 such players, including one who was the best player in the country? It's why we averaged over 8 yards a friggin' carry and literally only stopped ourselves.
