According to the article and embedded video with Hack, it is a fatter ball than the Nike ball used last year (e.g., same length but fatter in middle). This should make the ball easier to catch as it will stick within the diamond made by your two hands better as it comes in. They also claim that the leather is softer and much less slick in wet conditions than the one used last year, which again should make it easier to catch on the margin. Interesting tidbit - the players seem to like the new ball relative to the one they were using last year.

If O'Brien was still here, no doubt whatever ball we used would be slightly less than the required psi. That said, isn't interesting that they're touting a wider ball at a time when deflated balls were being used as an advantage? I wonder how the wider balls will affect the ball carriers...more fumbles?
