Intriguing match-ups this weekend

I totally agree. I think the NJ kid would drop the gloves. Terry would rush to save ADs and take a haymaker to the jaw and get knocked out. Then Tom would attack the NJ kid, causing Donnie to jack him.

Goodale would run for the mic and do his best michael buffer.

It would be glorious.

PS- again thats the devil in me. The angle in me just goes with whatever roar types.
What would be better yet:

DeSanto gets a little extracurricular. Suriano drops the gloves. The coaches come out to restrain their guys ... but Suriano clocks Goodale and DeSanto joins in! TnT jump Pritzlaff. M* throws the ref off the mat and through the scorer's table. The Rutgers coaches stumble off the mat a bloody mess.

Suriano steps in the center of the mat, pulls down the straps, and is wearing an Iowa shirt.

THAT would be glorious. If only that were at Rutgers instead of Iowa City ...

You accused PSU fans of picking against DeSanto for off-the-mat reasons instead of picking Lizak for on-the-mat performance.

Feel free to answer the question. Or deflect. We know which one helps your narrative.
I would pick McKenna. However, my question asked if he would get more respect after winning. I didn’t accuse anyone of anything based on my post. My opinion is most picked against Desanto for 2 reasons, his off-the-mat behavior and because he wrestles for Iowa. I remember reading many comments on here last year how exciting he was and his aggressive style and how he was some peoples favorite non-PSU wrestler. The only difference is he now a Hawk.

Lol, the end result of all that would certainly be a lawsuit by Mr. Suriano.

I'm assuming you're referencing my post from another thread?

Regardless, your post made my point for me...so thanks for that. As far as giving me any credit for YOUR wild and vivid imagination, let's just say it's a guilt by association behavior I don't deserve ;).

One thing dunk's post did for me was highlight an ugly side of wrestling, imo. Fans are taking sides, which is normal human behavior. Several of Steveson's bouts were topics of discussion, Gfeller's push, Ashnault's rootin' tootin', gun shootin' act, Tom's "you suck" and several of DeSanto's post-bout antics have been too, among others.

My concern is that a scenario, maybe not quite as dramatic as dunk posted, may happen, and most will play "gosh-ain't-it-awful" that it happened, or "we must do something quick to stop this type of boorish behavior". I believe the signs are there...today. Not getting a handle could cause an unfortunate event in the future. As NoVa posted in another thread, there are rules in place already...let's use them.

I'd be interested in other's takes.
For folks who have been watching a lot of college wrestling going way back...The Iowa heavy kicks his opponent.... was there other instances? Guess we would have to mostly see in person as today's technology wasn't around. I would guess to think we had some rough characters out there with fisticuffs sometimes, no?

You are forgetting about one Bobby Telford. I don't know what happens before he reaches the skirmish but after he gets there i don't see Jersey doing much.

Im rethinking this....After the extracurriculars and with just total bedlam on the mat...cats and dogs living together type stuff.......TnT look at each other and decide to go full mongolian tearing off their clothes and doing the hamster dance on the mat.

Everyone begins laughing at this craziness and ends up hugging and going for an adult beverage afterwards.

this leads to the mongolian TnT hamster dance being put on the internet until the zombies come for us....and Malone and I laugh for years!!!!!

I'd be willing to bet (1) all of those "favorite non-PSU wrestler" comments were before the Micic match at nationals; (2) people soured on him quick after Micic, as in before the next round.

Virtually everybody here said Cael should pass on him when he left Drexel. Strange response toward a "favorite."

your so off. the difference now is the Micic match. You know it, we know, the interwebs know it. so stop that nonsense. Such #fakenews

As for who picked who, I picked ADs because I think he is better. Others dont for reasons that Jefe pointed out. Who cares.

As I have said before the obsession on here isnt for Iowa wrestling, its really the tHR. When tHR becomes the 34 and stalling board, you wont have this back and forth. At the rate the board is falling apart I predict that by #2022 it will die from its own negativeness. So many good posters have been replaced by the absolute worst of the intranet.

Again, I know this. You know this. The interwebs know this.

Your not winning the internet any time soon with these hot takes. But then again not winning is something you may be becoming all to accompanied too.

Downey at Iowa State -- HR: He's a punk, drunk, drug user, malcontent, cancer, coach killer, he belongs in Ames except when he's at the casino during an ISU match.

Downey considering Iowa -- HR: TnT will turn him around. All he needs is structure.

DeSanto kimuras Micic -- HR: he's a punk, out of control, dangerous, unstable, should be kicked out of the sport.

DeSanto transfers to Iowa -- HR: TnT will turn him around. He'll be with Spencer. All he needs is structure and the best lightweight coaches in the world.

Prove me wrong.

Some opinions of him are about him being at Iowa. Ascribing that to us is what psychologists call "projection."

You win the argument. But does his performance against Lizak change your opinion of his wrestling ability? Is he AA this year?

He has the ability to AA, without a doubt. The mentality is the real question, isn't it? Hope he can figure it out--but I'm disheartened by his "long leash"

Well all I can say is the problem Ad has is that he needs help just like with the problem Teasdale has they need the support of team mates and coaches around them...AD needs guys like Lee and a few other to try to be of help.
Do you all really feel because of his illness he should be not able or allowed to wrestle?

Only slightly. My opinion of him all along was that he's an AA candidate depending on his draw.

I don't see him beating Micic, Fix, Suriano, or Wilson. Or Gross if he returns though that looks unlikely. There are a number of other guys who would make interesting matchups.

So that puts him in the range of losing in the quarters and getting a tough R12 opponent. And while he's done well this year, nobody knows how he'll react to adversity.

AD grew up 5 miles from where I grew up. I was cheering for him big time in high school and last year. But trying to break someone's arm tends to rub some folks the wrong way. He lost me as a fan last year while he was still at Drexel.

I'm personally enjoying a good chuckle at the irony in HR blasting him after his brutally bad behavior last year and then doing a 180 and leading the AD cheering section this year. And Iowa homer or not, you'd have to agree that the HR community would think it was downright criminal if Cael brought AD in. Imagine the uproar now if he was on our squad.

Is telling the referee 'you suck' and challenging a wrestlers Dad to meet him in the parking lot part of TnTs plan to turn him around?

Of course he can AA, as others have said. It will be interesting to see how he reacts to adversity. 133 is a deep weight class, and he'll likely have to do it winning at least one bout in the backside bracket.

And Pyles defends it all as being good for the sport on twitter #flonerdthug

Fair enough. He did fine after Gomez beat him but this Friday it’s likely he won’t win so let’s see how he reacts if Suriano wins.

True, though to be completely fair his post-Gomez recovery was considerably longer than anything he'd get at B10s or NCAAs -- possible that Lizak yesterday, 6 weeks later, was his next national qualifier opponent. In that sense it's too bad his Midlands bracket completely cleared out, because there's no 2019 benchmark for him.

Even after Suriano -- a full week until the next match, and not much of a challenge until he gets Fix in late February.

Schedule is what it is, he can't help that, but it may be doing him no favors come March.

maybe I missed it, but what kind of problem does Teasdale have? Let me guess, your buddies over on HR gave you the lowdown.

Stupid comparison. Naive reasoning.

Has Teasdale purposely tried to injure another wrestler? Has Teasdale even hit the mat yet?

As for DeSanto, recent behavior, combined with past behavior, pretty much indicates the "support" system is nothing more than lip service. They couldn't care less about his "illness" ... just win baby.

DeSanto is ticking time bomb, if he goes off again and injures a wrestler that will be on TnT.

as much time as you have been putting in over here, I hope to see your name in the transfer portal soon.
They have one for message board allegiance? :) I will give a little background for perspective. Grew up in western Iowa and was an Iowa fan in all sports. My ex’s family had season tickets for Nebraska football so I saw a lot of games in Memorial Stadium. Went to my first game when I was a junior in high school and started following the Huskers ever since. I went to college at Nebraska starting in 1993 and graduated in 1998. I still rooted for both teams until Nebraska joined the Big 10. Now mostly a Husker fan except for wrestling. So now I am part of 2 fanbases who were on top of the mountain years ago and now have both fell off to an extent. It’s hard to watch others take over the crown (PSU wrestling and Alabama football) and have the fans let you know. But I will continue to support both teams to the end. I think I might have more faith in Frost getting Nebraska back to the top than Brands at Iowa. I guess time will tell. No hard feelings to you guys from me, even if some of my comments come off that way. I just really want to beat Penn St just like everyone else who is a fan of any other team. Anyway, sorry for the long post. I look forward to many PSU/Iowa match ups at Big 10s.

Anyone else notice this? It seems that when flo does a documentary on someone, either during the time of shooting or soon after they either lose something they weren't supposed to lose or things go sour for them.

flodoc=maddencovercurse

Uh huh! Cael noticed. That is why he keeps his distance from flo.

Genius

I am a professor at an open enrollment community college. We have students with a vast array of academic abilities, as well as students with emotional/behavioral disabilities. We have students on the whole range of autism. The bottom line in every class is their behavior. A diagnosis cannot, and should not, be used to justify inappropriate, disruptive or dangerous behavior. Using "he is on the spectrum" as an excuse for his behavior is a disservice to all of the students who are on the spectrum and do not attempt to harm other students or yell at their teachers, coaches etc.

Would you mind posting this on HR?

Are you trying to get me banned? ;) Actually, I would if I thought it would do any good. However, I have read their responses to logically laid out facts, and nothing makes me think they would get anything from my post except I am a troll and tell me to "gfy"...

Just change your moniker to Johnstownsteel, No wait, that won't work. Nevermind.

Yikes, let's hope DT is immune from the curse. ;)

Borschel had a good take on FNT

I really enjoyed reading the book "Four Days to Glory" (which made me first like Borschel). I wish there would be more wrestling books. Now I think I will read Matt Brown's book again, if I can find it in the house. I hope some other PSU wrestlers will write books as did Matt Brown.
