Iowa extends TnT, M*

Iowa Extends Tom Brands, Terry Brands, and Ryan Morningstar'

OK......I am confused,,,,,,,did they make them taller......or Longer? Does that mean the 3" "binder" is now closer to 4 inches?? In a couple years...they might reach "Average" So confusing but hopeful......:)
Bigger, longer, AND uncut.

He deserves a wing inside the wrestling center.

If they dont get Spencer when they did all this recent good news on the heels of their great mat results......does.....not....happen.

Pa saved iowa wrestling
For nine years Iowa wrestling has been consistent as hell, pretty damn good. Every year somewhere between one second and one fifth they have had multiple 3rds and 4ths.

If good health had followed the Lions and Anthony was healthy, Berge was healthy and Shak had been healthy for the past 2 seasons the entire conversation would be about whether or not Iowa might finally finish second behind Cael's Lions. Despite Spence, Kemerer, Young and DeSanto the Hawks are just the same old Hawks, pretty damn good. For the Hawks to be viewed as something greater than pretty damn good it required PSU to lose basically 3 starters from their lineup.

You left out Marinelli, Lugo, and Cassioppi who are all top 3 right now. I know the expectation is to underperform but what if they don’t? It is entirely possible to have Lee, DeSanto, Lugo, Marinelli and Kemerer in the finals with the possibility that all could win. They have all beaten opponents who are predicted to be the top contenders at their weights. Young is top 5 even if Berge is healthy and probably finishes ahead of him based on past performance (Young returning AA, Berge 2-2 at 149). Shak at his best probably finishes ahead of Warner but Warner still finishes as AA. A healthy Cassar is the favorite but not a lock after watching Parris this year. Cassioppi moves from 3 to 4, not a huge drop in points. So the narrative that Penn St would be a shoe in for the title of everyone was healthy doesn’t necessarily fit what actually could happen. Iowa is different this year and that’s not taking anything away from how good Penn St is as well.

You forgot that Darmstadt is sitting in the room at Rutgers right now according the Apollo Creed.

You forgot Conel, 40% of the expected lineup in November either out because of injury or underperforming because of injury.

Who do they have since YG dried up 2 years ago?
Exactly. The Kem to Spencer pipeline was the perfect storm. The group grew up training together, it was at a time Young Guns was loaded, at least two were Hawk fans since they were very young. Most probably weren't must gets for PSU because they already had studs in their weight range. I think Its safe to assume they recruited each other to Iowa as much as Tom did.

The longer Cael and PSU dominates, the easier it will be for Cael to pluck the best of the best Pa kids growing up watching them dominate. So yeah....Tom will always have trouble recruiting Pa.

Another AWESOME dynamic is M2 is/will be the new YG. And the M2 pipeline will flow in a certain direction. And it won't be towards the heartland!!!

I believe both will be successful. It appears M2, given the distance to the PA Young Guns (Murrysville and Johnstown) is not overlapping clientele. The Midwest Young Guns (Illinois and Iowa) will not be affected. Do agree there might be a "geography", or location advantage for the best of M2.

Some overlap with Altoona and Punxsy/Clarion guys, right?

Yes. Probably shouldn't have said "not overlapping". There is an eastern fringe to Young Guns, and western fringe to M2 that overlaps, so parents/wrestlers have a choice. In my opinion, they can't go wrong with either.

GET THAT PAPER!

Congrats to them, and this is awesome for Wrestling, too. May this help every successful coach get a raise. Cael and Co* should be making double starting tomorrow.
