Iowa week .....over before it started???

Ominous post by Jason. Could be a harsh reality finally sinking in:

I knew this was coming as soon as Young tested positive. That left only one more positive test until this would happen.

Crap - but now Howard can get in some matches without getting his arm ripped off.

It will interesting to see if the Hawkeyes come back from a long break as flat as we did. There is no substitute for live fire matches against unfamiliar competition.

At this rate, the NCAA tourney will consist of a Twister tournament via Twitch

This will end up being an asterisk year if it happens at all. With the 17 day wait and the 7.5% team lockdown. A number of kids and maybe some whole teams will get knocked out for either of the two tourneys Let's just cross fingers it is noone in contention for either team or individual honors.

I dont see how only ONE guy can test positive, my prediction is more positive tests in IC :(

The way the Big Ten is dragging their feet the word 'postponed' should be replaced with 'cancelled'.

If they don't get us into a tri-meet this weekend we are looking at 5 total competitive dates ... maybe.

Flo is reporting hat the Gazette is reporting that Iowa is pausing wrestling activities and the dual for Friday is off.

Obviously this is really a duck of Robbie Howard, who was about to enter the game and wreck Spencer Lee's perfect season. ;)

Joking aside, seeing Iowa take the mat yesterday drove home the fact that I clearly don't understand how contact tracing works given Tom Brands' positive C-19 test last week.

Perhaps they didn't like the idea of wrestling without multiple starters and pulled the ultimate duck of pausing the entire program.

Be prepared for ZOOM championships… but really, is Iowa and others just prepping for the tournaments by getting sick now and getting "herd immunity" while PSU will be stricken during the tournament? Rutgers, Michigan St., Michigan, Iowa, soon to be Ohio State.... cancelling. B1G's in three weeks

Looks like Rutgers is free this weekend. Would it make too much sense to wrestle them?
Rutgers had to cancel this past weekend bc of Covid issues in their program, so not sure if they are able to go this weekend.

I'd be surprised if we got another dual in this season. A year ago I never would have imagined we'd be in basically the same place today after cancelling the NCAA tournament in regards to wrestling and basically the rest of our lives as well. What a wild, wild year it has been.

Iowa folks.. has there been any updates from HR on how Brands is coming along? Some people kick this quickly and hoping this is just a minor inconvenience for him.

So, is it possible that Iowa's season is now over bc if they are paused, what are the chances they are back next weekend?

If this was following B10 rules, they should be shut down for 17 days right?
I don't think so. If you test positive you are out for at least 17 days. Young is likely done until the conference championships. Not sure if there is a minimum length a team stays on pause. When PSU went on pause it seems that Cael either said or alluded to that they could have gone the following weekend but it was MSU that cancelled on them.

That's really a stupid thing to suggest.

does anyone have a link to the conference rules for this post season? I have heard a lot of rumor's concerning the 4 match rule as well as at large bids...

So if Howard does not get 4 matches he can not compete?
The word has it that G.Kerkfliet will be released by Big10--with no matches can he compete?

Is Michigan available this weekend? Their shut down was to end this weekend

I think the whole thing reeks of a DeSanto plot to avoid RBY.

As I understand it anyone can compete at the conference tourney. If they win one of the allocated spots they are in.

The 4 matches addresses a wrestler who cannot compete in the conference tourney. If they have wrestled 4 matches they can still be considered for an at-large bid.

Don't take this as fact though ... just my best guess.
