Since we've all agreed that Pitt is our rival, we should just go ahead and give in and play them every year. I propose we play them every Labor Day weekend, in State College. They can replace Akron or whomever. We will guarantee them $500K or whatever it is we give to our usual automatic wins. That is more than they will ever make in a game at Heinz anyhow.

Seems simple to me. I don't know why they'd turn down this automatic money-maker, and a chance to play a top-10 team every September.

After the first fifteen years with all the games in State College (getting us about even), then we should simply play home-away-home going forward. That’s more than fair....and I think even our Board’s own fair, esquire, would be more than happy to draw up the paperwork.

Treating them as an enemy gives them a "rivalry" status that they do not deserve. Any mention of them on this board elevates their stature. I have stated before that I have a number of Pitt friends and they often read this board because the many Pitt threads reinforce their perception that they are our one true rival. Having seen the ubiquitous nature of Pitt threads here, I have finally come to agree with them. Pitt is our one true rival. No objective reading of this board would draw one to any other conclusion, despite the many protests to the contrary. I would now expect a number of posts trying to explain away this board preoccupation with Pitt, but I no longer buy it. When it comes to rivals on this board, "Pitt is it."

And Michigan. And tOSU. But they’re good teams THAT CAN BEAT US REGULARLY on the field or with recruits. Pitt is just a rivalry, which is why we write about them as much even though they typically stink.

Good grief. People here disliking Pitt fans does not make the team a rival. Please give it a rest. There’s a huge gulf between the two teams in terms of talent and prestige, and the programs’ trajectories are vastly different. Pitt fans freaking hate us and our University, and often act like douches, and we take exception to that. So we dislike them back. It’s kind of a natural response. But that does not mean the programs are in a competitive rivalry.

I think the “you talk poopy about Pitt so clearly they are our rivals” crowd misses the old days, and is looking for reasons to say they continue today.

We’ll stop playing them in 2 years. They’ll win 4-8 games each year in the regular season, and we’ll win 9+. They’ll be miserable envious f****s toward us and we’ll think they’re dicks for it. But rivals, please...

Some of us just like to parody them and make jokes at their expense... I'm sorry we like fun.

But since we are talking about separate boards... there should be a separate board for you to talk about the posters you are oddly obsessed with and seemingly stalk. It's like you folks with obsessions can only view the rest of the world through the lens of their own behavior.

I accidentally hit the “Follow” button on one of Felli’s handles and this has evidently led him to believe that I’m you. The man has serious issues. Still, I’m glad that this little mystery has been solved.

Michael, going back to the Plot-It days I have had a total of two handles on the McAndrew board, the other being “Jim.” I changed to LionJim because of some registration snafu. I don’t stalk people. The only poster I’ve ever intentionally followed was Sgt. Carter, and this was because he had asked for my email while in his last days. (We were board friends.)
