IP address banned on the Lair

Everyone criticizes those of us who read The Lair. Haven't any of you seen The Godfather? His dad told Michael " Keep your friends close, but your enemies closer". Reason enough to read The Lair. besides the entertainment value.
But you have some many "enemies" nutty dave, how do you keep them all closer??
So if one can be banned by IP address, can anyone explain why I have to have eleven mack daddy's on ignore?
Treating them as an enemy gives them a "rivalry" status that they do not deserve. Any mention of them on this board elevates their stature. I have stated before that I have a number of Pitt friends and they often read this board because the many Pitt threads reinforce their perception that they are our one true rival. Having seen the ubiquitous nature of Pitt threads here, I have finally come to agree with them. Pitt is our one true rival. No objective reading of this board would draw one to any other conclusion, despite the many protests to the contrary. I would now expect a number of posts trying to explain away this board preoccupation with Pitt, but I no longer buy it. When it comes to rivals on this board, "Pitt is it."

I have long believed what you are saying.The degree of preoccupation here with Pitt can lead to no other conclusion. Your friends are indeed correct.
I think of Pitt fans the way Rick handled Ugarte in Casablanca...

If you grew up near Pittsburgh, and have lived near Pittsburgh most of your life, and am 60, like me, they are one of the enemies. Their jealousy of Penn State, and our success over the years, is hilarious.
Michael’s Dad didn’t tell him to come back and blab nonstop about anything & everything he learned.
Read about the Lair if you wish and if it actually entertains you, great. But reporting back here on your visits isn’t necessary and is certainly NOT entertaining for the vast majority of this Board.

When I was a kid, I recall folks gathering around house fires and gawking at auto accidents as they were detoured by.....I enjoy my visits to The Lair, they rarely disappoint. I have no friends who are Pitt Alums or fans. I don't have an issue with the Pitt Team....those are hard working kids, trying to make their way in the sport and life. My source of amusement and entertainment is The Lair. They are special over there.
There should be a separate pitt obsession board for mauti, nutty dave, pandaczar, howie, nittany1997, smails, and the others to mingle and discuss a school not even in the Big Ten.
I try very hard to forgive and forget, but comments like I heard from the Panturd fan base on 93.7 The Fan in 2011, “we’ve been saying for decades that Joe Paterno was sinister, corrupt and rotten to the core and he got what he deserved”, how can anyone not have disdain and animosity toward such envy and jealousy. Taking issue with such garbage is not giving credence to them being a rival.
Which is an appropriate position to take for a "non rival." Unfortunately, some here do give Pitt, and their fans, a lot of thought. They appear to care about little else. They visit their board, report back on what they say over there, follow their recruiting, start Pitt threads here, respond to Pitt trolls, and then spend time explaining that they don't care about Pitt.
I agree, if "taking issue with such garbage" was the limit of the posts here. It is not. Aside from Penn State, and women, no other topic elicits more threads and posts. Iowa fans were vile; Rutgers fans were worse, and yet threads about them are seldom seen here. No. I am convinced that many here believe Pitt is our one true rival, and no amount of explaining will convince me otherwise. I am not alone.

Beating Pitt does nothing for PSU.....its like beating Indiana. I hate "rivalries" that only benefit one team.

There are plenty of threads about other teams’ fans vile comments as we approach playing them. Wait until after we embarrass them the next two games and I’d be willing to bet until at least 2030 (hopefully Sandy’s 3030 will be more like it) any interest by PSU fans in sPITT will wane to next to nothing.
I agree. There are such threads, as you say, "as we approach playing them." With Pitt it is a daily event. I will disagree with Pitt interest waning after the next 2 games. I believe it will continue, unabated, but let us make a friendly wager (for bragging rights) and see where we are 4 years from now. I actually hope you win the bet.

Either way, you will build a brand that travels outside of Western PA.
For the record, finishing in the top 10 two years in a row helped a lot more than "scoring lots of points." Nobody cares if you score a lot if you don't actually accomplish anything, ask Texas Tech. But keep selling Franklin short, and calling us Peds, it's going great for you.

Wasn't long ago that board was in celebration of children getting molested and thinking it would help their dying football program. Proclaiming the end of PSU football and the rebirth of Pitt football. Of course we all know how that turned out. So I came see why some would go over and shit in their cereal on occasion.
