Judging by the new luxury apartments and cost of tuition, the new Penn State student will have plenty of mommy and daddy's money to blow. Soon only the rich will be able to attend. It sounds like a terrible business venture. Who is going to a casino in the middle of Pa on a weeknight in the winter?
This would have been unthinkable at one time. Ira is a power player though and he obviously identified "something" in Dambly that he likes. As some may know, one of the largest motivators for Lubert and Dambly to remain in control of Penn State (and the root source of so much of the damage they have inflicted upon the University) is their desire to place a Casino at Penn State.
Their desired location is just north of I-99 (a couple miles north of Beaver Stadium)
Patton Township (one of the municipalities around University Park, and the site of the desired Casino location) is considering this resolution..... which would ban the placement of a Casino within Township boundaries.

The Township Supervisor's meeting is scheduled for tonight (December 13th) at 7pm, at the Township Building.
Interested parties may want to attend.
If you ever want to drive the Rats out of Your House, you first have to stop feeding them huge hunks of cheese.
So long as these people can gorge themselves through control of the Penn State trough, you will never be able to pry them loose.

It may or may not work but there are a lot of casinos in the middle of nowhere. Rocky Gap in MD and Salamanca in NY leap to mind. Hollywood is 20 miles N of HBG in arguably the middle of nowhere. You have 99 right there and you have a decent sized community compared to Bradford, let's say, close to Salamanca. It would get Altoona business, State College, Bellefonte, Lewistown, Lock Haven. Hell, people drive from Erie and Pittsburgh to Salamanca and Rocky Gap all the time. I believe it would work, at least for awhile.
McQueary?

It's just amazing that Ira Lubert has a lot of experience in professional hotel management and developing hospitality properties. He even has a degree in Hotel & Restaurant Management from PSU. Happy coincidence! What a mentoring opportunity.Well, it MIGHT add some much-needed hotel rooms for the big PSU weekends.....?
This is why we are allowing more and more rich Asian students in!!Judging by the new luxury apartments and cost of tuition, the new Penn State student will have plenty of mommy and daddy's money to blow. Soon only the rich will be able to attend.
^^^^^^^^^^^^ THIS!! ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ is why I log in and browse.McQueary?
One zoomed by me in a McLaren earlier today. Not kidding. This is why we are allowing more and more rich Asian students in!!
I'm not surprised. My good friend's daughter just graduated and she tells stories of all the luxury cars these kids drive. One zoomed by me in a McLaren earlier today. Not kidding.
Is "out-of-country" tuition even higher than "out-of-state"?One zoomed by me in a McLaren earlier today. Not kidding.
My understanding is that there are only two categories - in-state and out-of-state. I could be wrong though. Is "out-of-country" tuition even higher than "out-of-state"?
Perhaps we've overlooked PSU's secret source of revenue.

They don’t need to be in power at Penn State to build a casino. It not like Penn State has any ability to approve or deny building it. There are a ton of places trying to get a casino. As some may know, one of the largest motivators for Lubert and Dambly to remain in control of Penn State (and the root source of so much of the damage they have inflicted upon the University) is their desire to place a Casino at Penn State.

I was told that a PSU alum runs a rental business and is the source for at least some of those cars. Love that Ferrari logo.Commonplace, as you and I know. Lambos, Ferraris, it's the Gold Coast up here.
The Ferrari Marque is from the horse that belonged to Francesco Barraca, a World War 1 Italian flyer. Barraca was killed in combat and Enzo Ferrari wanted to preserve his memory and therefore, used the image of his horse for his automobiles.I was told that a PSU alum runs a rental business and is the source for at least some of those cars. I assume - if you are that obtuse - that you will continue to feel that way even after the "Penn State Casino" is constructed at the Penn State "Research" Park (now that Patton Township has said "nyet").
With all profits flowing to the Ira Lubert/Mark Dambly Gang (with maybe a little taste for Bob Capretto).
Nope. Nothing to see here. (not if you head is firmly planted in the sand - - - or up into your anus)
In the meantime, all of this Penn State Cheese keeps the Rats firmly in control of the University.
And we know that just yields HUUUGE benefits for us all.
