Is Auburn @ home a “defining game” in measuring CJF’s legitimacy as a premier head coach?

He keeps trying though. You have to give him credit, he's rather CJF lose so he is right than anything else.
If you keep predicting and posting negative shit.....sooner or later ... you can be correct. It's wonderful to think that these folks are PSU "fans."

One game doesn’t define a coach. CJF has already had a signature win against tOSU in 2016. I would say that he’s cemented himself as a top ten coach and Penn State as a top ten program. Beating Auburn this Saturday will help our playoff chances this season and help support the big ten being equal to the SEC, but it wouldn’t be a signature win not a loss that gets him on the hot seat.
Agree with your sentiments. One pet peeve of mine (not directed at you) is the mere mention of playoffs. If we were to be realistic, there would be no reference (to them) until PSU wins all games up to and then defeats OSU. To talk playoffs after 1 significant win coming off a 4-5 season makes me want to scream. This team is predicted to win 8-9 games by the experts. I understand that some think that the defeat of OSU gives hope......but until they are beaten by someone in the Big Ten, playoff talk is stupid. IMO

That’s a rather emotional response to an innocuous question.

Folks on here predicted 8-9 wins, but if we do that, we’ll hear what a horrible year it was by those same posters. If we win 10, we’ll still hear how bad it was because of the way we lost those two games….and it’s all Franklin’s fault.

Franklin was legit before this. He got here in 2014 and almost immediately we started playing OSU close. Won the B1G in his 3rd season. Systematically moved us up each year until we became consistently top 10, which hadn't happened since the 1990s. He had a bad year in 2020 with the Covid situation and whatever was going on with the OC. That's the only negative season so far.

AS I posted here earlier, I had the occasion to attend a Southern Columbia game for the first time in 50 years last night. Southern overcame a 30-13 deficit to win in the final seconds. As I was leaving a fan was loudly shooting off his mouth criticizing Jim Roth for his play calling. Southern has won 64 games in a row and what 5 straight state championships? FANBOYS! LOL Some guys are just too stupid and can't help but run their mouths......

Perhaps Southern's invincibility is in question this year. I for one hope so. Rooting for them (if you're not a Tigers fan) is like rooting for the house in Vegas or Bama in NCAA football.
