In my local news paper the other day, the sports editor had a nice write up about PSU. But he also mentioned concerns that I have said as well, and are warranted. The Slow Sluggish Starts.
I don't remember them all, the news paper is gone. However, they were tied at halftime against Purdue, losing to MSU at half, and only winning 9-0 vs. Rutgers. Rutgers!! Their were more I just don't remember exactly. I just watched the rerun of Rutgers vs PSU from last year and it was ugly, in the first half. Trace couldn't complete anything, and ended the game with only 211 yards. They just couldn't get going. Then the second half PSU started running on Rutgers, and having short passes go for long yards. Rutgers is just an example. If thats BAMA, OSU, FSU, they are up like 24-0 easy vs Rutgers.
So why did we start so slow last year? I keep predicting 11-1 for the 2017 regular season, because talent wise that's what we should do. But if they come out flat on O, and don't stop the run better, things may not go so good. I mean I could understand a game or so, starting slow, but PSU started slow the entire year, for the most part.
If we are going to make a title run, this is the year to do it, for a number of reasons. We are losing Barkley, Allen, and Cabinda next year, and even more so, OSU lost many really good starters on D, and 3 high first round draft picks in the Def. Backfield. Plus they have no big time WR threats, which they will in the future. Then you have Michigan that lost about 85% of their starters. So we need to really take advantage of this year.
I know people may not like reading this post, but sorry I am too much of a die hard PSU fan, and watching all those slow starts kills me every time.
