Is this game in danger of not being a sellout?

Lots of tickets still available. Parking pricing is insane right now. Are people sitting in upper decks where lots of seats remain willing to pay $400+ to park? I’m not sure

It's basically just those former student sections which have large swaths of tickets available. Guess that proves that they never really wanted to go anyway.

I mean any students who didn’t receive tickets should be given a second chance. We need to fill the stadium.
Their second chance is to go buy tickets in those sections right now. Funny how that story never really took off outside of this forum and one kid's Tweeter page. Almost makes you wonder if the whole thing wasn't being EXTREMELY overblown.

At least they can walk to the game instead of having to pay for parking but I’ve been tracking the ticket sales in the upper decks that are mostly unsold and ticket sales have been extremely slow in those areas.

Time for Franklin to address this situation. I guarantee Notre Dame, the shoe, and Austin will be packed. This is embarrassing.
Even if we don't sell out, we will still have as many, if not more, attendees than each of those other games.

It's December 21st against a team that probably shouldn't even be in the playoffs, dude.

I suspect that some people are waiting to see updates to the forecast, but others (students and non-students) have just decided to not go.

With all of the resale seats available, many of which are EXTRMELY jacked up, it's nice to see that some people who bought attempting to gouge are probably going to get karma when they have to eat their extras or reduce significantly.

We’ve been desperate to make the playoffs, we finally make it, even have a home game at Beaver Stadium and we can’t sell it out? It would be embarrassing and a huge let down. I don’t care who the opponent is.

I'm one who has friends who live in town so a bed and grabbing a ride in their cars in their already paid for parking is viable.

The $120 price to get into the stadium and then move to one of their sections was tempting. One guy is a Letterman and usually gets us into their Club- which would have value for a 12/21 game.

Bottom line is that I've got 2 Holiday parties that day, and we are hosting for Christmas. Iffy weather doesn't help. But if we were playing Tennessee I'd likely be there. Beating SMU should happen, and if it doesn't I'd rather not be there...

Get used to it. College football is going to turn into MLB 2.0. What once was the national pastime will become a niche sport.

You have to remember that the university has to allow up to 500 tickets for the opposing band, with access to the field. They also have to allow something like 1500 seats for the visiting team in the lower bowl. The only place they can put them in the lower bowl, without displacing season ticket holders, is in the student section area of the stadium. You will also need to provide a buffer zone between the students and the opposing fans or you are just asking for problems.

And anyone on this board who’s not going to the game better have a damn good reason.
I'm not traveling to State College and sitting in the cold when I can stay home watch four games in 2 days and have a better experience
Actually I have a stupid work Xmas party the night of the 21st but hoping it's on there.
I used to go to a ton of games--no idea why anyone does now.

At this point if I was going, I wouldn’t buy a ticket until Friday or Saturday. Ticket prices are going to be coming down, not going up.

Something something there for family Christmas activities something something. I actually looked into flights from kc into Philly or Pittsburgh and would have been able to make it work if it had been the night game.

I was at the freaking Purdue game. Were you?
So you decided to go to a worthless game and are gonna miss the biggest PSU game in 38 years. Got it

There’s going to be more than a few unsold tickets for a lot of these games.
People have written big checks just to get through the regular season. Now there could be as many as four additional games.
How many PSU fans have the resources to cover tickets, travel and time off to attend more than one playoff game, especially around the holidays?
And especially (again) when all will be on national TV?

After 35 years with season tickets I haven’t set foot on campus since the trustees stabbed Joe in the back and lied about it to protect their own interests. I will be celebrating Coach Paterno’s birthday at the Steelers game in Baltimore. It will be a higher stakes game, played at a much higher skill level and at half the price. Since everyone is predicting Beaver Stadium will not be full, looks like they miss me more than I miss them.

And the reality is--it doesn't matter how many people attend because the real money is the TV contract

First, people have to drive a good distance with a lot them going through mountains. Who wants to blow a significant amount of money and risk having to drive through a snowstorm or not being able to go at all?

And the morons made it a noon game. Almost every other team plays in a large city where the majority of fans live within a 20-30 minute drive. Or they have considerable mass transit.

The cities also have a large number of bars and restaurants where fans can gather before the game, eat, drink, socialize and stay warm. At HV fans need time to set up tailgates, cook some food, meet up and socialize. With a noon kick off they kicked all that in the balls.

What makes Penn State so unique is that whole experience. They said f you for tv money so I will say f you and stay home 🤬
