Is this game in danger of not being a sellout?

Okay
You forgot "that time of month" and,"need my nails done". 😂

Man the F up and go to the game. If you can't sell out a playoff game on its first year then forfeit the game and move on.
Let's forfeit because there are 3,000 unsold tickets in a 107,000 seat stadium versus SMU. Nice. It is SMU, just doesn't have the brand cache or drawing power. Not saying it is a good thing or the right approach but it sure is reality. That is human behavior.

And when we win, the game 10 days later will actually be even bigger than this one.

This game should be played tomorrow FWIW. Gap between ccg week and playoff is just absurd IMO.
There is the Army Navy game tomorrow and I like giving that game and its participants the cfb stage by themselves. True student athletes. I think it is good you give the teams that had to play in the CCG two weeks of rest. Also, next weekend is really the start of the holiday weekend/week so it is nice to have some high stakes college football to watch as opposed to in years past it was the Bahamas bowl as your only cfb viewing option.

They could work that into the week though. Even if that means two playoff games on at the same time.
The bye week probably exists to avoid non CCG game participants from having an advantage over those that lost but I also hate the bye week despite loving Army/Navy

I'm 1800 miles away but even if I was still in MD I wasn't going to pay over $300 per ticket plus the cost of lodging etc. To me that's just too much.
Especially at Christmas Time when budgets are already stretched.

Seriously why are you guys even on this site then?
What kind of a PSU fan has a wife and/or a kid that isn’t a PSU fan? You’re pathetic! Either your entire family goes … including aunts, cousins, etc. … or you’re pathetic.

Stop acting like a 12-year-old.

Day trips are much easier and a nooner actually is good. If you live in Pittsburgh or Philly then get up at 6, out the door at 6:30, roll into town 9:30 or 10. Park somewhere in town for a decent rate (not close to the stadium). Stroll around, get something to eat. Head to stadium around 11.

After game get to car around 4 or 4:30. Should get home by 8pm. Listen to all the game recap stuff on radio in traffic. Listen to Texas vs Clemson game on radio going home. Should be home to watch OSU vs Tennessee.

All in all a great day. Wish I lived closer and could do it.

First, people have to drive a good distance with a lot them going through mountains. Who wants to blow a significant amount of money and risk having to drive through a snowstorm or not being able to go at all?

And the morons made it a noon game. Almost every other team plays in a large city where the majority of fans live within a 20-30 minute drive. Or they have considerable mass transit.

The cities also have a large number of bars and restaurants where fans can gather before the game, eat, drink, socialize and stay warm. At HV fans need time to set up tailgates, cook some food, meet up and socialize. With a noon kick off they kicked all that in the balls.

What makes Penn State so unique is that whole experience. They said f you for tv money so I will say f you and stay home 🤬
And it is the weekend before Christmas and prices are outrageous.

My son wanted to go, so I'm taking him. Not that he had to twist my arm. Reasonably priced tickets can be found. Got a pair of East side tickets (uppers) for $230, fees and all. Not too bad. Cold? I call that football weather.

Yeah I mean especially those of you who live within driving distance to miss this game is just pathetic.

Who knows if they’ll ever be another playoff game in Beaver stadium. Wouldn’t be surprised if they got rid of these home playoff games in the near future.

I live in central Delaware, going to Army-Navy tomorrow (daughters is a Youngster at Navy). AN tickets are going for $300+. Then, daughter and I will be at the playoff game!

Before my time, but Riverfront stadium in Cincinnati was sold out in 1981 for the AFC championship game at 1pm, with -50 degrees wind chill. I don't recall anyone upset about parking, the color of the coat they wore, or the early kickoff time.

What I DO remember though, was how the warm weather Chargers with Dan Fouts, played the entire game like frozen zombies, while the cold weather Bengals played exactly as they did all season.

I have 3 tickets, but I am going to eat them and stay home just to upset you.

How many actually showed up?

It's Xmas means that people have events associated with the holiday. I absolutely have to attend my work Xmas party that night and I'm livid I'll miss some of the later games but that's life.

So you agree that there is a line whereby it's okay for a "fan" to not attend. Got it.
You just don't agree with the line that others have set for themselves.
So for you, the line is somewhere below posting on an internet football message board.
For you, if you post on a message board, it means that on a few days notice, you need to spend thousands of dollars in tickets/travel/lodging/parking to sit in freezing temps a few days before Xmas, and regardless of whatever else you might have already scheduled with friends and family during a very busy time of year.
For you, it's also not a valid excuse that someone might want to dedicate those thousands of dollars toward a Fiesta bowl trip 11 days later.
Nope, for you, you MUST empty your bank account and get to Central PA at all costs for the first of what should be at least 3 playoff games. Maybe I'll see you in Tempe? You're definitely going to the Fiesta, right? What about the Semis? You in? I mean, you post on an internet message board, after all.

Imagine pretending that going to an NFL CCG in 1981 is in anyway similar to going to a 1st round CFP playoff game in 2024

Travelling from the Cincinnati suburbs to Riverfront Stadium isn't like travelling from Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and Lancaster to State College.

Why you don't even think we should be in the playoff...
Maybe we shouldn't be if we can't get people to come to the game. Maybe this playoff will be a bigger bust for the sport than even I thought. Yeesh.

But your comment is fake news. We were discussing scenarios. IF we lost to Minnesota. IF this, IF that.

PSU is definitely a playoff team. Overseeded a bit? Probably.

105k+ will be more people than any other playoff game and that's if we don't sell another seat.

Overseeded? We should have a bye next week.

Can't get people to come? We're going to have over 100k and no one cares if people are there or not--it's about TV money and ratings.
