Is this game in danger of not being a sellout?

Going to a game is still a great experience. I'm talking about the big games like OSU or Oregon or Michigan.

If I lived closer and could make this a day trip I would go. First playoff game ever, chance to advance to the final 8. A lot on the line.

I assumed we were still using the original on game day...
The lion costume gets replaced periodically due to wear and tear. For example you can see where the tail on my costume was sewn back on after multiple trips up the student section. Also, if you look carefully at pictures of the costume over the years you’ll notice slight changes particularly in the ears and teeth. I don’t know how many original lions made it out to the public, if any others, but mine is one of my favorite pieces of sports memorabilia.

We were actually planning on going in for the game. We grabbed a hotel months ago, but we didn’t book flights. Traveling around Christmas is expensive and we wanted to watch the weather.

Now, flights are insane into SCE and MDT (>$1,000pp) and almost as bad into PIT/BWI/PHL($700-$900pp). And it’s looking like snow on Friday when we’d be driving in. Hard pass for us now.

Hopefully they win and we’ll catch them in the Fiesta.

  • Cold weather compromises parking/tailgating.
  • Possible snowy weather makes commute through mountains difficult.
  • Expensive lodging.
  • Close to Christmas.

You forgot "that time of month" and,"need my nails done". 😂

Man the F up and go to the game. If you can't sell out a playoff game on its first year then forfeit the game and move on.

We’ve been desperate to make the playoffs, we finally make it, even have a home game at Beaver Stadium and we can’t sell it out? It would be embarrassing and a huge let down. I don’t care who the opponent is.
NCAA CFB Playoffs can’t sell it out because they have jacked prices up significantly. Weather is a factor and will be under 30 degrees for the game. Many could be saying I’m going to the Fiesta Bowl.

First, people have to drive a good distance with a lot them going through mountains. Who wants to blow a significant amount of money and risk having to drive through a snowstorm or not being able to go at all?

And the morons made it a noon game. Almost every other team plays in a large city where the majority of fans live within a 20-30 minute drive. Or they have considerable mass transit.

The cities also have a large number of bars and restaurants where fans can gather before the game, eat, drink, socialize and stay warm. At HV fans need time to set up tailgates, cook some food, meet up and socialize. With a noon kick off they kicked all that in the balls.

What makes Penn State so unique is that whole experience. They said f you for tv money so I will say f you and stay home 🤬
Yes miss the biggest PSU game in 38 years to show those tv guys that you’re gonna watch the tv.

Everyone must understand that the Fall Semester ends on December 20. Many students will have left campus for the Christmas holidays.

From experience - it also gets ripped off in away stadiums.

Pretty sure that the economy is destroyed, inflation is at 30% and people can't afford eggs. Apparently not the case if we are thinking people can afford $3k for a family of 4 to attend a football game.

There is a story going around about tOSU tickets. Apparently, some kind of VIP code was leaked allowing those who had the code to get in early buying tickets. The code was shared by ticket brokers who bought up as many seats as they could. They are now for sale on the various ticket broker sites. The result is that there are thousands of seats currently available for that game. I wonder if the same was true for PSU seat sales.

As much as I’m excited about the playoffs I can’t help myself hope these games crap the bed because of the money hungry creatures looking to profit from it. Did I read that the B1G is getting $3m? Wonder what PSUs take is on this?

I’m going by myself. Wife is staying home with my daughter. Who said the whole family needs to go?

Each team in the B1G and the SEC receives $21,000,000 as a participant conference in the CFPI.

Additionally, the teams who are participating in the tournament receive $4,000,000 for playing in each round.

I'm sure TV revenues make up the majority of those individual payments, but the CFP is going to try to maximize income from all areas.

Other conferences and their members also receive varying monetary payments based on the prearranged agreement.

The stadium will be full. Holy shit I have never seen a more pu$$ified fan base than Penn State. 😂
I hope it's full but there are good reasons why people will be reluctant to travel to State College on December 21st.

Most other games don't have the same weather/travel issues that exist in State College. ND is a cold weather venue but they're only 1.5 hrs from Chicago. They're even within driving distance to Indianapolis so they're attracting fans from both schools.

I don’t see how some of you go 38 years watching every single game or almost every single game hoping Penn State can make it to a playoff or National Championship game. We finally make it again after 38 seasons and you won’t go bc it’s too cold/may snow.

For what all us fans have gone through during these years from the dark years of the early 2000’s to the Sanctions starting in 2012.

The 1994 season not even getting to play a true national championship game leading to Nebraska crowned as National Champion.

Or the Minnesota Hail Mary play to beat us in ‘99.

The refs screwing us in the 2005 season vs Michigan or we may be in the National Championship game.

Losing a devastating late season game to Iowa on a walk-off fg in 2008 or we may be in a national championship game.

2017 losing just a devastating blown game vs OSU and then a walk off fg vs MSU.

Maybe your just a casual fan and don’t care if we win or lose but for me, being born in ‘87 this is the biggest PSU game in my lifetime and it would take a whole hell of a lot to miss in Beaver stadium.

I was joking because it looks like it’s been used forever. Super jealous you got one. One of my best friends tried out for it but didn’t get selected.

You are incredibly misguided.

Curious where you live and how old you are.

Or because they have family coming in for Christmas
Or because hotels are ridiculously expensive
Or because they just spent a lot of money going to the BiG Championship game

True. Central Pa and W Pa is in the lake affect snow belt area. Just yesterday parts of I80 were closed because of snow squalls. Would pretty terrible to buy four tickets plus food/ beverages spending nearly a grand and then can’t get there.

Tuesday night-Wednesday people will have a better idea of the weather/travel conditions. If weather is good and roads are clear it will sell out by Thursday night.

So if you want to go, but now before price starts going up.
