Is this the most confident you have been heading into a PSU-um game?

No. I'm only confident in the pageantry, power, and excitement of the Whiteout, but that won't win us this game. We will have to play way better than any game this year. Just like folks said about the Iowa game - "contender or pretender?". Can this very young team take a second big step? This is another opportunity in the Franklin era, albeit a year early, to see how elite we are on the national stage. In some ways this is a program defining moment for Michigan football too as they will lean on their whole history and equal recruiting classes to not walk out of Beaver with the loss. Their pride and reputation will be at stake and that makes them way dangerous.

I'd feel a lot more confident if we were having success with our x-receiver position. It almost feels like the Georgia game last week with its corps of highly recruited young wide receivers who are not yet ready for prime time and limiting their offense. Once SC took their leading receiver, Lawrence Cager, away that made all the difference. Michigan will take KJ Hamler away and will blitz Clifford every way known in the universe. Can we handle the result? We'll see.

2017 and 1994.

Had no doubts at all in '17 we'd whip their maizy blue butts. But 1994 was as clear as a bell, and the only reason that game was even close was because Joe actually did not realize how good we were (and had waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much respect for the b10) than was warranted) and played too close to the vest (that and the zebras cutting um a break at every opportunity). We should have won that along the lines of 44-24... we were that much better.

We weren't 63-14 better than osu (more like 25-28 pts) but we were a whole lot better than a late 7 vs michigan. Game still pisses me off. In case no one picked cup on that... lol.

I am not close to being as confident tomorrow. If Patterson figures it out and plays like he is capable of, and the um D shows up.. we'll have our hands full.

Ever since we lost the nine straight to Carr in every way imaginable, I’ll never be super confident vs Michigan
There's something about Michigan! The wins are great, but the losses hurt more than against any other team. I think that's because our record against them should be better than it is. The bad calls over the years play a part, but it's more than that.

The team has a tremendous opportunity tonight. I think Franklin will have them ready! I do get a little nervous when the sentiment gets too bullish against a good team.

We're young. They have a fumbling problem. The crowd is a huge advantage. Tonight could go a lot of different ways, but the one scenario I can't envision is a Michigan rout.

Lots of confidence here based on our play versus um’s this season, plus of course whiteout hype (remembering the 2017 ASS. BEATING. ). I’m not normally too confident ahead of these games, but I think we win big tomorrow. Franklin and the team appear to be focused, and I don’t think um is feeling so confident.
I sure hope the players don’t. I was listening to Aaron judge this morning saying he knew when he woke up they would be going to Houston today. Well Aaron has a single and went 1-4 and is batting 200 which is higher than most Yankees. So not much thanks to him to get us to Houston.

So I hope Psu is staying focused and has some jitters, not as much as last week though, and executes early and often tonight. At least for my heart! Last week was high anxiety.

I was pretty confident to win at Michigan in 2007 so i went. Michigan was awful. Then jaypa drew up the worst offensive game plan in Psu history and we lost . Second most boring game, Iowa 6-4 win, in Psu history.

Yes, very confident. We win in a blowout with a defensive TD, 33-6. The coolest part is that my confidence and prediction will have absolutely NO IMPACT on the game whatsoever. So I don't have to have any silly concerns about being overconfident. I'm just a fan.

WE ARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am not confident. This offense needs to get untracked against a defense like this for me to have confidence about the rest of the season. Can our OL handle UM's blitz from everywhere defense? We will have to see.
Struggling to beat Pitt will do that to a person.

I was extremely confident in ‘97 when we were #2 and they were #4...I remember thinking Enis was going to run for 200 yards that day. Of course, meatchicken came in and blew the doors off of Beaver Stadium, so....

The fumbling problem for Michigan is my concern....will we take advantage of it and get some turnovers? Great teams get turnovers consistently...we do not. If we don’t force Michigan to have turnovers, we could be in some trouble.

It never seems to end. We’ll win in a close hard fought game, and then all of us can drink heavily, down some Xanax and start having nightmares about Sparty.
I hope I don’t have to drink as much as I did against Iowa...I’m too old for that sh!t.

I’m never confident before any game. Ever. It sucks to be me.

Me too. I'll be freaking nervous before the Rutgers game. Even though me and 10 of my old school-yard buddies could beta Rutgers. I'll still be nervous before THAT game

The only thing I'll be nervous about before the Rutgers game is that somebody is going to get hurt.

Hey, we're not playing Clemson or Alabama tonight. I don't think Michigan is any better than Iowa.

Michigan got all the breaks when those 2 teams played and we got none against Iowa.

We should be able to control their offense and their D is nothing special this year.

I am never confident against Michigan until the final whistle blows and even then you have to double check to make sure the game is really over. I witnessed Tony Johnson’s “out of bounds” catch in person in 2002. When normal men would give up, the Referines will dig deep and keep fighting for the win.

I'm concerned about PSU turning the ball over. Just about everybody who handles the ball for PSU is young and Michigan is going to apply a lot of pressure. Clifford got rattled last week and was nearly stripped from behind. Hamler often takes risks trying to make something out of nothing. The RBs aren't fully developed. Shorter is just getting started. But to their credit everybody but Slade has done a good job holding onto the ball so far this year. Perhaps my concern is unfounded.

I saw the Wisconsin game, so I know this team can be beaten badly, but I'm actually a little worried. Almost everyone is picking Penn State. My concern is that we let them hang around and make a dumb mistake late. Although we stomped them in 2017 in a whiteout, I remember 2006 when both QBs got knocked out of the game. And if we lose it will hurt, but there's next year. For Harbaugh, losing this would making Ohio State a must-win.

I hope your are right. But, what concerns me is the "8 sacks" they had against Iowa. Huge concern.

I think Michigan is a little better than Iowa. Their defense is surprisingly good considering the kids they lost to the NFL. They got 8 turnovers vs. Iowa and held them to 3 pts. I also think Michigan has more weapons on offense than Iowa. PSU has better athletes but they're young. It should be a good game.
