I generally don't either. But even with the small sampling of non-Penn State games I've tuned into, I've managed to catch their announcers whining about our rank. Not really. I can't say I pay enough attention to ESPN to know what they're saying.

Was in that camp last season. Sleep when you can, brother.Mostly it's a 'time' thing - just don't have as much of it; even casually. A two year old and a one month old will do that to ya .
Here's a better question.... Would ESPN dare bring College Gameday to State College again? God I hope so. I can only imagine how creative the Signs will be.Because mine really, really is.
Fortunately i never got into the habit of listening to talking heads. Sports, political, whatever.Because mine really, really is.
Not if, but when that day comes. I say forget any signs, the absolute best statement would be for NO one to show up. That would truly be For the Glory!!!!Here's a better question.... The ultimate would be if they someday came to State College again (I personally don't want them there ever again, or at least until there is a public apology), and just have everyone boycott being there. Just let them sit there and broadcast with no one behind them. That would really make a statement on many levels. Here's a better question.... Nor mine. But their obvious pain is delicious.No. ESPN does not dictate my enjoyment if Penn State football.

I suggest the pig pens.It would be great to have our buddies, the Gameday crew bring their traveling freak show to campus again. Howard can personally insult everybody face to face. They can all crap on the fans and the program right on the sidewalk in front of the BJC while our delusional fans who "still don't get it" in their white-out clothing hoot and holler and hold up signs like "Herbie I want to marry you" and "Corso for President." They can bring Giger and Jones up on the panel to spew their endlessly negative ravings too. That would be really great and imagine the wonderful exposure it would bring to our toxic situation. Can't wait.
Truly, the SID or Barbour or somebody with the authority should exclude them permanently from campus but that won't happen so they'll be back eventually. When they do, I favor the completely vacant backdrop, but that'll never happen either. If they have to come here PSU should set them an area aside up around the deer pens, around 500 ft into the woods.
I think you are way too cynical. I really don't think there is as much hate from ESPN as people think. For comparison purposes, I listen to a number of handicapping podcasts and most of those guys have us power ranked in the 20's to 30's. These are guys that don't care about the BS - just about getting bets right. A lot of them fully admit that they don't even look at the polls.Because mine really, really is.
HELL YES.I voted "Yes" before noticing the "Hell, Yes" option. Can I change my vote?
Say what you will. I've heard them complain about our ranking firsthand, and it tastes delicious.I think you are way too cynical. I really don't think there is as much hate from ESPN as people think. They are pros. They get it right more often than not. In fact, at least 3 of the guys I listen to picked PSU to cover vs OSU.If they think PSU belongs in the 20's or 30's in power rankings, I doubt they're getting their bets right.

gotcha....what are they saying about the PSU vs Indiana game? They are pros. They get it right more often than not. In fact, at least 3 of the guys I listen to picked PSU to cover vs OSU.
I do have to make one edit. I said "30's", but actually that was one guy who put us around 30 (before the Iowa game). I haven't heard any updates this week, but I would think that PSU has been upgraded by a few points.
If you look at the totality of our season, you could rank us 20 to 30, sure. But if you look at how we are playing now, there is no doubt that we are a Top 10 team. The main difference? The youngsters on both side of the line of scrimmage have grown up.
I believe the Michigan game was the last game Derek Dowery started at guard who was playing...uh....sub optimally. I believe ProFootballFocus' college team also had Bates' grade as one of the worst guard in the country up until that point. Gaia was still really struggling at center. Since then, of course, McGovern was put into a starting role and named Big Ten offensive freshman of the week (one of three OL with that honor in last 10 to 15 years or so), Gaia has really surprised with how well he is playing, and Bates is really playing well also. Mahon, until he was injured, was named twice by PFF as the top tackle in the country based on that week's game film.
On defense we had the top 7 linebackers injured for the Michigan game, and the defensive line was still trying to figure things out after losing 3 NFL draft picks. Now we've seen them hold Ohio State in check except for one long run, and kept a power running team in Iowa to 30 yards rushing. 2nd in the Big Ten in sacks. Run three deep across all the units, rotating in and keeping everyone fresh.
You're looking at a whole new ball game here.
Only one guy commented and he liked Indiana (ATS). I tend to agree with him. I have a feeling this game is going to be tight. FWIW, I'm feeling solid wins against Rutgers and MSU (maybe even a blow out of MSU).gotcha....what are they saying about the PSU vs Indiana game?
Royboy, since you seemed interested, I did hear from a few guys later last week that both had upgraded PSU in their power rankings. Both guys that I like - one used to be a big part of the Phil Steele mag. The wise guys are not all totally sold yet, but a few are definitely getting on board. We'll see what they say this week.gotcha....what are they saying about the PSU vs Indiana game?
If they have had PSU that downgraded, then their guidance has certainly influenced some folks to bet the wrong way, as PSU has won the last 6 vs the betting line.I think you are way too cynical. +1I don't want ESPN or Gameday anywhere near State College ever again.
No. ESPN does not dictate my enjoyment of Penn State football.
I don't either, but I absolutely LOVE the idea of boycotting it. Maybe you could have one person standing there with a recording of crickets chirping to enhance the message.I don't want ESPN or Gameday anywhere near State College ever again.
