It' an honor to have Game Day on Campus. I hope the idiots amon

Someone who makes a fool of themselves and PSU. Gameday is here because the 2017 team is doing great and we have a Heisman Trophy canidate, and some people want to ruin it. Not realizing these actions will not do anything to hurt ESPN and only drive the people who call us a "cult" or "enablers". If people want to focus on how butthurt they are about ESPN or make it about the past, social media will destroy us, and completely backfire. Why not Just enjoy it for what itis? It's a great recruiting tool and a symbol that we are in a huge game and back at the top. DO you think the current, students, players, or coaches appreciate some of this ant-gameday crap?
Doesn't Joe have the most football wins ever in college football? Why not celebrate this feat on national TV? No other college can say that. It would be a great recruiting tool and national exposure to celebrate coach Paterno's accomplishment. Especially with the current ranking of today's team.

It was addressed back when it happened with the explanation that there was someone on set running errands and getting them coffee and whatnot, and Corsi's mic was on while looking for him. Makes a lot more sense than him trying to get in a dig at PSU that wouldn't make a lot of sense in the context.

They call interns ‘Little Kid?’ His dig does make sense in context too.

How are you defining "idiot" in this example? Would an idiot be a person who disagrees about gameday being an honor, a person who makes fun of Mr. Corso, or both?
Probably anyone that disagrees with anything Walleye believes.

Yup lets hit old men in the face with solid balls of ice. Great strategy. Absolutely a good look.
Yep and maybe he'll take a heart attack to go along with his stroke and finally have some respect for himself and get the ef off the air. When you can no longer speak coherently it's time to stop being a ESPN shill...

So what will you say when they spend 15 minutes on the results of Jerrys PCRA hearing, rehashing a bunch of bullshit about our culture? That will make you the idiot, right?

I'll bet you right now that they don't spend a single minute on that. They have too much football programming that goes into gameday to waste time on something that only a handful of people care about.

How long does it take? 15 seconds is more than enough.

Not gonna happen. I'd almost be willing to bet my house on their story line and it's gonna go from Sandusky to big ten champs to # 2 in the nation.

No matter how much you don't like it, Gameday coming is still seen as a big deal to recruits and our current players. Living in 2011-2012 instead of focusing the success of our team does no one any good, and proves/solves nothing.

I don't like ESPN one bit. But as I posted last night, most students and recruits were in middle school when the scandal hit, and in their short lives, they could care less about something that happened when they were much younger. Since Gameday is coming and we can't change that, let's make it work to our advantage. It can only help with top tier recruits, not hurt. Tho I wouldn't classify it an an honor.

My response was specific to the PCRA hearing. If they discuss Sandusky/sanctions it will only be for the purpose of showing how quickly PSU turned things around. People don't want to discuss the details of the Sandusky/PSU mess anymore.

So without the “idiots” who want to hold ESPN accountable for their outrageous comments, those who call Penn State fans cultists or enablers will change their minds? I don’t think so.

Why not enjoy it?
Why not despise it?

Lots of reasons both ways.

Something to be said for despising anything ESPN does....

Also something to be said for rejecting the opinions of posters trying to assume the board nanny role....

us don't ruin the Penn State reputation of being great hosts. But, I guess there will always be those "idiots". I'm glad Coach had the perseverance to stay on after his stroke. It's a shame people make fun of him. Strokes are not to be made fun of.
I can’t believe that so many BWI posters haven’t figured out that you’re a “troll”.

What it means is that ESPN believes that being in happy valley is best for their ratings.

No kidding. ESPN is a corporation whose sole motivation is profit.

However, being in Happy Valley is best for their ratings because the team is doing so well. That it is tribute to the team who has carried itself with dignity and respect from the day the scandal started. As fans, we should follow their lead. Over time, the only way to change perception is though classy behavior by PSU Fans and PSU Football players. If you think otherwise, then I do not know where you have been since 1966.

And how is that a bad thing? We have come back from sanctions (related to the Sandusky scandal) much faster than anyone ever imagined was possible (and many didn't think it was possible at all). Isn't that part of this team's story? Or at the very least, part of this coach's story? How they recovered from crippling sanctions to the brink of the CFP?

Now if they called it the Paterno scandal or some other nonsense that would be different. Like it or not, the Sandusky scandal is part of our history now. Folks tell us not to "move on", but in the next breath they say they don't want anyone mentioning the scandal. I don't get it.

Does the OP work for the screwed up network? “An honor”.....are you f@#$ing kidding me?!! Never forget that they were at the forefront of trying to bury us. It did not matter to them whether their stories were true or accurate....media people are despicable. We already have one of the best recruiting classes in the nation without their “help”....so that arguement does not hold water. Some of you are just a bit too forgiving. WE OWE THEM NOTHING. They are SCUM!

Just the mention of Sandusky's name is all it will take. That will bring up all the memories everyone wanted to forget. My bet on who will say it is....... DESMOND HOWARD!

Where exactly has the high road taken us?

We have the number 2 team in the country and complete control of our path to the playoff. If the whole fanbase spent its time doing what some on this board wished, we'd be no where near that.

The team winning is a better f/u to everyone else than writing something mean about Surma or Freeh on a posterboard. Virtually no one, including a large number of penn staters, would even know who Surma or any of the BOT are. You could make up names and it'd have the same impact, which is none.

And much of their past profits were due to the lies and mis-truths they told back in 2011 and 2102!!!! These days, Disney is working to rid themselves of the anchor that ESPN has become to WDW's bottom line!

Yep, and simply look at the Onward State Facebook post that talks about jackass JZ offering a grand to anyone with a pro-Paterno/anti-espn sign. 200 comments and nearly all of them are people saying to move on and stop embarrassing PSU. And many aren’t students. Many are alums. Like I said the other day, the JoeBots are fading away.

You do realize that it was called "the PSU/Paterno" scandal for multiple years ----- until they were proven to be wrong about that part of their agenda!!!!

The ESPN Game Day crew has already ruined Penn States reputation so I don' t see how it gets any worst.

I also agree - it isn't cool to make fun of a disability no matter who it is.

No, but it makes the conversation about Sandusky again rather than Franklin and the #2 team in the country. But if you want to make sure everyone keeps talking about Sandusky and how PSU fans are a cult and are in denial about what happened, then make sure you bring your signs on Saturday.

ESPN is the head witch hunter in what transpired here 6 years ago. They spread the slime and helped smear it along with wall to wall coverage with no remorse at all. That is something that can never be forgotten at all. The best response would be for no one to show up, but that won’t happen. The next best response is to have people on, like Franco or Jay or even Sue, to help represent what the “real” Penn State is about and not the ESPN aided and abetted perception. IMO it is not an honor for them to be here. It’s a damn shame, in fact.
