Could he be an x-factor? I know he's very limited in what he can do in terms of "technical or tactical instruction" to players, make "tactical decisions" during games or recruit off-campus...but what kind of impact do you see him making? This could be one of the best recruits JF has brought in

See enlarged and emboldened: why not?

I am hoping that Haslett can suggest how to better utilize Hack's prototypical NFL talents more effectively with the other talent around him!

because it is against NCAA rules, coaching staffs are limited, and the roles of the others are limited as well. Uncle Lar posted a few weeks ago actually what they can and cant not do. Basically they can not interact with players.

My feeling and its just that is he was brought in for schemes. He can have minimal contact with players but I think he may be doing a fair amount of scouting/film watching of upcoming opponents and brings a fresh eye on how to contain an offense or teams best offensive threats through schemes. i.e. OSU's option qb and how to best contain and show them new looks to confuse them. Brings a different view and eye to compare/contrast with coaches on how to scheme best against that weeks opponents.

.......and what do you think is playing on Urban Meyer's headset all game long? It ain't opera music!

First off I'm hoping he helps with ST, he was known for that during his stints in the NFL.
2nd. I'm hoping helps the offense and Donovan find the chinks in the armor of the opposing defense.

He's not allowed to contribute during games, so it won't be tactical as much as technical and strategy support/guidance. I'm sure he will help with formations, film study, game planning, and that sort of thing. I'd be surprised if he's even allowed to run any drills with players. He's still a great resource to have at the coaches disposal.

Someone (I forget who) observed the other day during the open practice that Haslett was taking more notes than anyone else.

I agree. What an incredible resource for the squad and the staff. The guy has excelled at all levels. As an undersized player and unsuspected coach. Enormous intensity and passion. Knows the game inside and out. He knows more in the proverbial pinky than most know period. Just being around him and in film sessions will excelerate anyones inteligence, player or coach.

I see its basically a marriage of convenience. Haslett has a son playing QB at Indiana, PA. and wants to see his games this year. I hope he's giving solid advice and not going through the motions.
