I'm hearing some real, real real good things coming into camp. Light has come on and the kid has jumped a few levels etc . .May even earn the starting spot next to Izzard. Goes 300 to 310 now also they are saying...stay tuned

Source?

They haven't had pads on since April. They won't put em on again for nearly 2 months. If he put on some weight that's excellent, but I don't remember anybody saying this about his BW performance (and my rewatch was fully on the LBs lol)...

Gonna be interesting to come back to this post when Michigan puts up another 400+ yard rushing day.
Well I think we need to actually step down from the ledge here. Last year we still had Jacobs playing the Will and virtually zero experience elsewhere among the remaining linebackers, not to mention an over matched Sutherland back there missing assignments. The linebackers shared an equal responsibility on that game and there is no chance that happens again this year with all our returning experience...PROVIDED we are healthy, but that applies to Michigan also, who may be nearly as good up front, but that team sent 3 out of 5 to the NFL and I'm not sure if they duplicate that this year with those transfers.

Now also factor in the fact that they will be running every play from a silent count due th Beaver Stadium...I think they'll punt a couple times even worst case...we will see.

We'll see. With the incoming transfers, many are predicting Michigan's offensive line will be better than 2022.

The problem with last year's game was a lot less about the experience at linebacker and a lot more about the ends being unable to set the edge, tackles getting pushed off the ball and schematic misfit between our defense and Michigan's offense. It was not a one time issue. It is a feature of the defense that has dogged Diaz at every stop. It is a fatal flaw that has already got him fired once.

The scary thing is, while our linebackers will be better, our line will probably be worse without a large shift in personnel while Michigan's offensive line is expected be better, not worse than last season. Bottom line, we don't match up well to Michigan by default and when they are good, we aren't terribly competitive. I don't expect this year to be any different because I think they will be better on both sides of the ball.

No sense playing the game then huh?

Wallace thinks he is a closet idiot and no one knows it. So, his posts are his rather excellent attempts to come out of the closet.

A couple of thoughts:

While I agree Michigan’s running game and OLine is really good, and our defensive tackles are a big question mark, I would be surprised and disappointed if the scheme is the reason we get beat this year.

Schemes can be and should be tweaked each week to prepare for your new opponent. The entire defensive staff has had an entire year to see what went wrong.

Furthermore, the inability of the offense to control the ball last year also played into the defense collapsing. We should have a pretty solid running game ourselves this year considering we return our whole offensive line except our center along with two quality tight ends.

Excellent. He always had the quickness, but needed some coaching/experience and a little more weight.

Step down from the ledge? Really? That’s what the board is all about!

Free speech is still important. Just use the ignore feature.

Trolling while posing as a PSU-fan, which you are not, is not about "free speech". Your notion that Constitutional free-speech rights apply to a private sports message board dedicated to a specific University is laughably ridiculous. It is not someone's "Constitutional Right" to troll this board - let's just stop with the ridiculous claims.

Boys, boys..settle down. Try doing something worthwhile with your day! Something perhaps a jerk could be proud of doing.

I’m a troll? Not a PSU fan? Nothing could be further from the truth.

Huh? What? Where did I say you were a troll? Your comprehension skills are really lacking. I (among several others) pointed out 100% of a particular poster's posts are negative trolling posts toward PSU - you then said they had a "free speach" Constitutional Right to make these posts on this board. I then pointed out that your notion that making posts to this board is protected by the US Constitution's "free speech rights" is utterly nonsensical bullshit.

Nowhere in any of that did I say you were the troll, so where you pulled this interpretation from what I posted is well beyond me. I never said you were a troll - contrary to your claim.

Free speech is for political discourse and not a license for 🐂 shit. This thread has degenerated to pure 🐂 squat. 😂

That tends to happen when certain emotionally sensitive posters show up. Any chance for reasonable discourse goes away because they can't handle opinions that counter their own.

Per your comment on the system. Schemes can be and should be tweaked each week. However, Franklin has a demonstrated preference for system guys. Guys that share his philosophy. Joe Moorhead was the lone exception. System guys, while they can make some adjustments, tend not to make major adjustments, largely because they are limited by the talent they use. System guys tend to to use system talent. Diaz has been plagued by the same fundamental flaw at every stop to date over his career as a defensive coordinator. That is a ten plus year trend. Until he proves he can make changes, I assume he can't or won't.

Your take on the offense is spot on. However, I don't see that changing this year either, or really ever for the same reasons I have doubts of Diaz. Yurcich's offense frequently caved against bad Big XII defenses during his time there despite more talent than we currently have. There is a reason he left Okie State for a lower position at Ohio State, and people weren't upset he left. He too is a system guy. He did add some tricks while at OSU and UT, but they were mere QB gimmicks that don't translate to Allar very well.

No, Michigan's o line is not expected to be better. The transfers do not match the talent of the 3 departed NFL linemen.

Who? The Stanford transfers? You saw their O line last year? Those kids better than the 3 NFL LINEMEN that got drafted.

I call B.S.
True, they had the 92nd ranked offense in the country last year, the 114th ranked rushing offense, and the 108th ranked scoring offense. I'm guessing not many OL starters for them would be adequate in the Big 10. And remember, the defenses in the PAC 10 are mostly terrible to non-existent.
