Journeymen Collegiate Classic, Nov. 12 Bethlehem Freedom High

I wonder if it could, somewhat, be a case of a 157 wrestling up a weight. Mitch looked “worked” earlier than I would have guessed.
Yeah I think there were definitely some finishes that he had to work for that he otherwise wouldn’t. Ruiz battled. But if you’re the staff, you’ll take a kid who can score points and isn’t afraid to let it fly. Easier to clean up mistakes than to make a guy more dynamic.

It could be worse. We could be Iowa and sent the entire team to wrestle D2 and D3 teams at the Luther Open.
Our JUCO guys competed at Luther yesterday. First off, not a fully D1 Open, but some of them lower division guys can give a decent push. I think its kinda cool that they compete in that open. None of them acted like they were above the competition or hot-shotted anybody.

The Ferrari clan was pretty cordial yesterday. Between the HWC coach and the family, I ain't ever seen so many chains in a wooden-benched gymnasium. I will qualify that with the fact that I had to leave early, so maybe things got spicier during VV-Ferrari, but I wouldn't know.

I also get that it was calmer competition, but The Brands' aren't the devils that some make them out to be. They're very positive in the corner and hold the door open for people like we'd hope any PSU coach would.

It seems Evans is in the dilemma that a lot of guys face these days...he just beat the #6 ranked guy in the country, but he's not gonna start at Penn State. Does he stay for the experience of a lifetime in the best wrestling room in the world with the best coaches in the world or does he transfer to somewhere he would immediately start?
Good luck to him whatever he decides!
We Are!!!

Personally, I think the Brands are great for wrestling. I also think they are good at what they do.

Maybe good at what they do, but not great and they are up against the greatest college wrestler of all-time and when all is said and done, will likely be the greatest college coach of all-time. Not that I feel bad for them at all, especially with their out-of-control behavior and the tedious wrestling style they promote, but they were born at the wrong time.

Evans, leading 4-2 in 3rd gets taken down and ridden out (on a huge stall ride) by Hines (Lehigh). Evans was active on bottom, but couldn’t get out. 6-4 loss with riding time.

Edit: Hines is a 3x NQ, R12 last year, and ranked #12 right now.
