Mr. Buckeye Joey McKenna and his squad come to Rec Hall looking for a coronation
A short time later: "This is not what we wanted."Mr. Buckeye Joey McKenna and his squad come to Rec Hall looking for a coronation
Too bad that the layout at Rec Hall wasn’t really confusing. You could have had a classic Spinal Tap “hello Cleveland” moment where they get less and less psyched the more they get turned aroundA short time later: "This is not what we wanted."
That dual had so much hype and somehow managed to exceed it.
- Cassar beating Moore arguably as big as any of the above EDIT: sorry, I forgot he's Raptorit really is amazing how many little things went into that night to make one of the most memorable nights in PSU wrestling and REC hall history
- Bo getting the major with time expiring
- NN taking down captain America and winning by losing
- Nato going into the table
- Zpains legal torture
- Nolf not in the lineup
- Mark Halls smile at the buzzer
- Raptors upset
- the heat (haha)
- no tO$U fans (lol)

Two more things:And the leadup/backdrop to the big match was crazy too:
- Tan Tom's 'not how we would have done it' comment
- Nolf's injury and LemonPie's declaration that PSU couldn't beat tOSU without him
- Captain America's incendiary tweets
- PSU being underdog going into a dual, again
#crowdwasreadytoexplode
Well, yes, but in fairness though, I have to assume that Snyder did win HIS match, right? So, his post isn't really inaccurate. That s*$# is NEVER going to get old.![]()
The robes are classic. They should have made them wear them out of Rec Hall.Mr. Buckeye Joey McKenna and his squad come to Rec Hall looking for a coronation
And it all being decided in the final match! I was sitting in a grocery store parking lot glued to Byers’ PBP and then screaming like a madman by myself in the car at the end. I suspect passers-by were a bit unnerved. Two more things:
- Cael's dual streak. Given the wrestlers' ages this dual represented probably the last time until the 2019-20 season when PSU was going to be seriously tested; and after the Lee loss to McKenna the streak looked to be in jeopardy.
- The unusual tiebreaker scenario going into the final match that Gibbons and Johnson got wrong. It wasn't even clear at the time that Snyder knew he needed more than a major.
Goodbye, (dual) streak
Well there goes any chance at a title. Rutgers takes away 45 points from PSU. Of course.
By less than he did the year before.Well, yes, but in fairness though, I have to assume that Snyder did win HIS match, right? So, his post isn't really inaccurate.

Don’t know how they did it, especially after Lee lost. Still shake my head - every guy fought his ass off.And the leadup/backdrop to the big match was crazy too:

With the dual in his hands, a 15-10 win over Nevills when he needed nearly a tech-fall is more like bringing "heck" with him. So yes, he fell short of his own self-imposed standard.Well, yes, but in fairness though, I have to assume that Snyder did win HIS match, right? So, his post isn't really inaccurate.
What's capacity at Rec Hall for a dual?
It is amazing the power that comes from the enjoyment of simply cheering for a bunch of kids.I'll remember the match for being a needed break from reality for me. I had total hip replacement on the morning of Friday Feb 2. After surgery the doctors thought i suffered a stroke and moved me to the Neurology wing.
After having every imangible test and exam done on Feb 3 , I got back to the room and was able for a couple of hours to forget about my situation. After 36 hours of concern and negativity I was able to have 2 hours of enjoyment.
6 months later I was able to walk 9 holes of golf and have no stroke symptoms. The educated guess is that ,during surgery when my breathing tube was inserted for the anesthesia they cut off the blood flow to the nerve that controlled the left side of my face.
I would like to think my recovery started that night watching the Ohio State wrestling match.
Glad to hear you are golfing and doing well! The Bucks should lose more often ;-)I'll remember the match for being a needed break from reality for me. Rumor has it..and from a very dependable source--that this year during half time of the PSU/OSU football game--the Bo/ Martin match will be played at beaver stadium for all to relive!Long time reader of this forum (never posted before) and season ticket holder for 20+ .... gotta say 2017-18 was a huge thrill. Beating the bucknuts they way we did was an all time classic. I’ll never forget the wave of pure energy that roared out of the PSU crowd at Quicken when Bo levered poor old Martin. I think of it often and it always reminds me of why we love the sport.
The February 3, 2018 dual with Ohio State had the 4th highest attendance of a Rec Hall dual during the Cael era, at 6699.What's capacity at Rec Hall for a dual?

Cenzo also secured the major with little time left. Every one of our dudes hustled their butts off. Yes, it's what they do, but that night, they really did.- Cassar beating Moore arguably as big as any of the above EDIT: sorry, I forgot he's Raptor
- three entirely different Bo's go 1-2
I’ll never forget when Nevills ripped the pin chain apart and chucked it at the OSU team and the pin charm stuck in Tom Ryan’s eye and now Ryan wears an eye patch and has a peg leg and talks like a pirate!...
