Just a little trolling on a Sunday morning

Ban..I realize you like to go and on if you feel you need to defend yourself but I also think you’re a smart guy and must realize this Holier than thou stance on such a “WGAF” subject is getting old. Drop it. No one truly cares if someone boos or not
If booing is so virtuous and sportsmanlike, I wonder why they don't teach it to young athletes, and particularly teach kids at youth sports camps to boo their opponents? Any ideas?

Again, my position is not wrong.

I banned my kids from watching sponge bob because I walked into the room and saw bobs friend engaged in booing him

it was the worst

Sounds like you need to toughen up a tad bit. No one's talking about hurt feelings, just respeck and sportsmanship.

Check out how excited either James Franklin or Keegan Michael Key (I can't tell which) is starting at 1:58:28. The FOOTBALL coach is acting like a kid in a candy store over this win.

I'm 50, and plan on being at a bunch more PSU wrestling events, but I doubt that I will ever experience anything like I did that night for the rest of my life.

Maybe I’m not comprehending your argument? Are you implying the PSU wrestlers were booing?

Of course they not gonna teach booing at youth camp for any sport. Fans boo or don’t boo, not the athletes that are competing.

You must hate the NFL draft when Roger Goodell comes on stage

Do you teach your kids to curse and swear? Probably not, but they probably still have a few times in their lives.

Cite your source on who said booing was virtuous and sportmanslike.

And what is your point?

Thread title says "Just a little trolling."

3 pages about booing indicates maybe more than a little.
It's time to change the subject. What does everyone think about whistling?

*Edit*
I mean, if you asked DT if he would have preferred the Iranians just politely clapped after that fall, what do you think he'd say?

Don't ask him q's. I like Ban but when you constantly have to clarify or explain yourself ... #thereismoretolifethantheboards.

I couldn't imagine what an experience it'd be to wrestle in CHA, but, in all honesty, the UNI team always had the deer in a headlights look when they were there and usually got completely shelled.

Regarding the booing, Bonin thrived on adversity, so there's no surprise there.

Yeah, I am sure it is an individual thing as to whether that environment would pump somebody up or throw them off their game.

Still appalling that DT was slapped with two cautions in the first for stuff you see in every match. Love how he emphatically shook the ref's hand at the end like the ref was his coach. Enjoyed rewatching that, thanks.

It seems they're working on the whole caution vs. stepout thing, but it's still a mess. The step out IS the penalty for not engaging, why tack another one on?

Real talk: I wasn't there, but that atmosphere is probably the only wrestling atmosphere I've "witnessed" that beats what we had at Rec against tOSU last year. Iran's theocracy can suck an egg, but I gotta give the people props for their passion for wrestling. And the whistling made it better, IMO.

Probably the coolest Beat the Streets moment was when we wrestled Iran in 2016. So many Iranians showed up, waving flags, and were louder than the US fans. It was a real only-in-NYC moment.

Nothing to do with the wrestlers, and I never even said in my initial post that I was really condemning the fans for doing so, just that I was surprised, given how classy Cael conducts himself.

Of course we don't teach kids to boo, so why do adults find it acceptable as a means of "sportsmanship," which also includes fans?

I didn't teach my kids to swear, but they sure learned it, in part, from me.

So, why do adults find it ok to boo, when we'd never teach our young athletes to do so? Cite a source? Why am I arguing with so many people who seem to find booing an act of dignity (or some equivalent)?

Yet another reply. ;)

Iranian fans always show up. In 1999 (or there abouts) I went to a World Cup duals in the Patriot Center and George Mason University. Round robin of duals with teams from US, Russia, Cuba, and Iran. At least half of the crowd was Iranian and VERY loud. US team included McCoy and Kolat and we won all 3 duals.

You know what really grinds my gears? Ghosts running around on Halloween booing kids and adults alike, and the adults reward such reprehensible behavior with candy. What is this world coming to?

Yet, ironically, you're keeping it going. :p

I'm going to assume the constant misspelling of the word respect is due to autocorrect... and not because you don't know how it is spelled ;)

I'm an Ali G, Sacha Baron Cohen fan, so that's where it comes from. Yes, I'm a more than adequate speller, but I'll save the self-congrats.

BUT, I actually HAVE been misspelling it, which is a bit disturbing to me. The wall in back shows the proper spelling.

The grass is truly greener over here where that conversation is no longer happening.
You should meet up with CTC sometime. The guy puts someone on ignore who says hello to him, for God's sake.

I didn't say anything that objectionable that should make anyone run and hide.

You didn't say any one thing. That much is true.

Ignoring isn't always equal to hiding. Sometimes it is to get away from Charlie Brown's mother's voice.
