Just think...

It was great that Cenzo got the 3rd seed, away from Imar
however with 20/20 hindsight, I'm 100% convinced he would have beaten Imar last night

tongiht i put it at 50/50 ... as Imar will be 175lbs come match time

I'm not sure how you could ever be 100% sure anyone would ever beat Imar.... he's a freak, and seems to find a way always. I'll be rooting for Vincenzo as hard as the next guy, but his window for victory is very small imo. Man I hope I'm wrong though =D

IMAR is elite, like Zain, Nolf, Cox, Snyder... hardly a flaw in his game. VJ is climbing and has done incredibly well as a freshman. Just not on IMAR's level, yet, but he can wrestle with him but has to get that first, early TD....

Cenzo will actually wrestle IMAR. This will play into IMAR's strengths. I'm hoping some how he can pull it off, but IMAR only has one loss in three years for a reason. That said Cenzo is having a hell of a tournament. His hips and abilities to fight off takedowns are giving guys fits. He will be in it until the end and then who knows what can happen.

I don't count Vincenzo out at all at this point... He is wrestling really well and is hot right now. Confidence is high for him. Loved DT breaking down his strengths last night. Talked about wrestling him in the practice room and how good VJ's hips are and I focused on that afterwards and DT was spot on and describing it. Thought DT was excellent in his analysis and has to really help VJ going against the likes of DT in the practice room. I give him a solid chance tonight. I really like the way he is wrestling. Stating the obvious here but he can't make any big mistakes. Would really help to get up early with a TD. IMar is so dang tough when he gets up early and can ride.

Yea, Imars weight doesn't bother me, BoJo's does. How in the world did he make 165 for two years?? The good news is the staff has time to go over the BigTen finals match in detail with Mark and come up with a solid strategy. I will be surprised if Hall goes under Bo tonight.

Ding ding ding...we have a winner. Cael tends to let guys grow and wrestle even if it seems inconvenient for the team at the time. This really helps with the continual growth in skills and why guys seem to get better every year. Ohio State does this too.

VJ's hips are insane. They are so heavy and strong. It's difficult for even IMar to finish shots on his legs. However, IMars best offense/shot is the snap down/shuck go behind. It's how he beat Nolf last year in the finals at the end of the third and it's how he's taken VJ down this year.

Coincidentally, it's actually VJs best offense/shot, too. VJ actually has a lot of varied attacks from his feet, and he can get to anyone's legs, but he doesn't always finish. The snapdown/shuck go behind is how he took Massa down last night the first time.

IMar and VJ are actually very similar. They both have insane hips, incredible defense, can go upper body, and have similar strengths when attacking on offense.

Conditioning on the biggest stage may be a factor. This is a huge spotlight, I hope VJ can keep his adrenaline in check. Don't exhaust the power cells in the 1st period. IMAR has a tendency to fade a little in the 3rd but is so damn good it carries him thru just like good form on a distance runner.

Cenzo reminds me of Andrew Long with those hips. Similar styles although Long was big for 133 and was able to toss a lot of guys to their back.
