PSU vs Iowa preview - 2025 edition

Clever omission of the currency symbol. Gives you options. For example, if you go with the Iranian rial (IRR), the current exchange rate is about 42,075 IRR to $1. So, your 1,500 wager above could end up costing you only 0.036 cents U.S.
Gee......never thought of that. I'll be more specific. I'll pay the amounts in Dollars, Euros, British pounds.....or ladies panties. I'll let you choose :)

Sorry, @Cstroke - I read your post incorrectly and thought you said "it would be a big mistake to try to bonus Nelson or Gabe," rather than it "would TAKE a big mistake..." - .

Old man disease again.
Many of us are similarly afflicted, diceman.

By March 2025, all 10 of our wrestlers is a big gun.

There are 3 guys in our lineup who haven’t finished Top 3 before at NCAAs

Lilledahl - 4x Age World Finalist who many are picking to outright win
Davis - B1G Champ, R12 (1 seed who drew the champ) as a true freshman with a hard cut
Josh Barr - U20 silver at a Cael specialty weight wrestling Carter, Brooks, Cael, Snyder, Varner daily

Both Carter and Levi said it in their interview after being asked about the upper weight murderer row after Drexel

“Our murderers row is the entire team now”

Between common core and covid, most of America is now several grade levels behind in math. I think the whole state of Iowa had been there for decades.

Just kidding.

Or am I?

They greatly overestimate their “studs”

As I have noted multiple times, it is great that Iowa over estimates their skill levels and chances. That makes the pain of the upcoming face stomping that is obvious to most, but embarrassingly lost on the HR goofs that much more crushing and enjoyable.

What he said-and I wish more teams had their lack of self awareness. 90 percent of our dual meets are just a chance to see the good guys wrestle, no suspense at all. Who knew I would miss Tan Tom and the 2018 Buckeyes "bringing hell with them"? Oh and don't forget the robes that was f-ing classic 😂

As a fan of wrestling, probably more so than a PSU wrestling fan, it's a dual-edged sword. Yes, I'd like to see more competitive matches, but as it was watching the 1960s Boston Celtics or the late 1970s UCLA men's BB or several of the UConn women's BB more recently, seeing the sport taken to its greatest heights is a reward like no other.

@johnstownsteel, you know all you have to do is open a browser different than your default browser, i.e. Firefox, Samsung rather than Chrome or Google. The different browser will keep you logged in to your other email on GIA. so all you have to do is minimize the window to go back and forth between boards, it's just as easy as staying signed in on both boards under one email.

I still wished they would lift the ban though, I wouldn't have to hide as much.

If @johnstownsteel has been using HR/GIA all these years without this intel, I’d be even more impressed by his commitment to trolling, lol. 🤣

I remember Nolfs first yr Pyles said he gave up too many escapes but forgot to mention 90% were letting them go to take them down again!
at the Nittany Lion open, I think his freshman year (after redshirt), I was sitting beside some team off of the floor (can't recall). Jason completely destroyed his opponent and when he made it back up to join his team, he just shook his head. It was priceless.

We may have sat near each other. I remember Jason down early (at least in the match i am thinking of), but by the end, the other guy had a difficult time walking off the mat. He looked like he just survived a tornado.

if he was down it was just the 1st td as he rolled after that

GIA/HR or whatever they call themselves now has pretty much worn out the phrase “Just wait until next year.” The season is just getting started so we haven’t seen it posted quite yet. So when will we start seeing frequent posts with this phrase included? After the Iowa/PSU dual or late March?

Reality begins to set in leading into the dual, it gives a firm head slap during the dual and screams "you ain't anywhere near good enough" during the Big10s then belly laughs at the vile meltdown during a 3rd, 4th or 5th place finish at nationals. Then the loop begins anew in April when HR swears 150 plus points and 6 finalists is the probable outcome next March.

It has to suck living in the HR bubble that has become their own personal groundhog day.

In some warped way it may be as entertaining if Buchanan won in BJC and Barr later flipped the script a la Carter & Kem. Those 5-7 weeks in between would be gold.
I would rather the dual be a close Barr win, the Big10 to be a wider margin Barr win, the NCAA be an even bigger margin Barr win and then Mrs. Warner smack Paul for eyeballing Mrs. Buchanan the wrong way.

It’s hard for me to take Buchanan as a #1 seriously after seeing what Brooks did to him last year. I know AB is a generational talent, but still.

It’s like the 84 BYU football team compared to the 2001 Canes

He doesn't have to deal with anything like Aaron this year. However, the idea TnT, Morningstar, Telford, Spencer, DeSanto and Marinelli are going to have him ready to deal with Barr after PSU has seen him up close and personal 2 times prior is rather humorous.

I mean, it's not a great weight class overall this year, but Buchanan is the #1 for now. We'll see, but I don't see anyone else as a favorite right now, either, and someone has to be the top guy.

For me, if Josh can’t shock the world, it’ll be easier seeing the guy AB rag-dolled end as #1 than the kneeling CSB tool who’s beaten him twice. That said, if Barr does shock by beating both along the way, I’ll buy him another damn cow!
