A bit before my time I am afraid - but would not surprise me (re: home team support). So many memories of those.
Think this was the holiday "tournament" that used to be there for a few years:
St. Josephs with Goukas, Cliff Anderson (edison), Duff, Ford etc. beat Bowling Green with Nate Thurmond and Howie Komives (sp). Think Jim Boyle hit a foul line shot to win the game
and
other game Villanova beat wichita state with (now can't remember their great player-- Dave Stallworth?.)
Wonderful memories
Correct me if I am wrong, but what I think I remember is that the fans of the home team in the first game, that hung around, would cheer for the home team in the second game. Right or wrong? I am talking re 60s into the 70s.
Just wish the politics of the current day would allow PSU to play annual game like the MSU game a couple years ago--sold out and my bet could have gotten mid-teens for that game.
I had the pleasure of streamers on the 1st hoop, the heat (always feels like its mid-80's and about to rain), and the many personalities / regulars.
I am sure Cameron Indoor is special, as is Hinkle Fieldhouse, and a few others. None of them have the Big 5!
