Man...do I miss that guy. Just thinking about him today. World was a better place with him in it.

Certainly was.

And he certainly wasn't afraid to tell it like it is... Not a sideline moment many remember, but it always cracks me up and reminds me of why I loved the guy so much. #RIP Joepa

BTW remember when Illinois had a mascot? Feels like right when they axed the Chief, their athletic program completely went down the toilet. In all sports.. always liked that Warchant that plays beginning of the vid, had an eerie tone to it. Unique to the Fighting Illini, shame they were forced to ban the band from playing it

War chant - bad. Tomahawk chop - good. NCAA - crap.

alright alright....I guess I just remember hearing it during this segment back in the day, and thought it was cool.

Anyway, fight songs aside, the logo redesign might to be the worst in the history of college athletics.

It wasn’t really a redesign. It was a logo change. The Block I is a traditional Illinois logo. When I was in graduate school there in the ‘90s, it was common to see clothing and other items with the Block I. Granted, the Chief was the symbol of the athletic program back then. Still, the Block I has always been a symbol of the university.

I hate I.

That's right my bad... When they officially dropped the Chief they darkened the orange and dropped the lettering "ILLINOIS" ...
