You get an F for your explication of Richard Cory. The poem is not complicated. Things, appearances, aren’t always as they seem. The poet created a character who appeared to be a paragon. The Richard Cory the townsfolk saw was far from the real Richard Cory.
Wealth, sex, success, nothing is a panacea for the pain in the brain some people experience (see David Foster Wallace, Robin Williams and tens of thousands of lesser known, common persons’ suicides).
Suicide used to be like a screen saver for me. The thought was always there, lurking.

Just a suggestion since you appear to be an infrequent poster. Before attacking a member of the board, especially one with a first rate reputation like ILLINOISLION, you should make sure you have your facts straight. You did not. The original poster edited his post making it look like ILLINOIS was insensitive. Other posts before yours clarified this, but you either did not read them or ignored them. OK, you missed it. It happens. But when ILLINOIS defended himself, you should have realized your error and extended an olive branch.
The weather must be getting hot. There have been a lot of short tempers and arguing for argument's sake on this board lately. Thanks for you efforts in trying to calm things down a bit on this thread, fairgambit.

To be honest ILLINIOS, I was just trying to protect the guy. You were so angry you used a naughty word. I figured I better try to straighten him out before you used the full might of your voluminous vicious vocabulary on him, or worse yet, unleashed Fonzie on him.

The word HE used is what really got me upset or I would have responded civilly (as you did). If I was a Mod anyone that used the word he used would be banned instantly, there’s simply no excuse to use that language in a public forum.
MY naughty word was just a continuation of the thought process from my toilet paper poll!
