I enjoyed this event last year. I didn't think the guys would go as hard as they did. Especially fun was watching Nolf and Frank go at least 80%. DT and Bo also spent most of the practice paired up, less hard but exploring lots of different positions.

My better half/significant other was lecturing on campus that same day but there's a different schedule this year and so I probably won't get there.

For those that attend I would really like to know how Nevills is doing now that he has been healthy for a decent period of time.

Can someone who was there sum up anything noteworthy from this event? Like how did Hall and Suriano look as well as Nevills. I really wish that i could have gone to this event.

I was there with creamery freak. We had a chance to briefly chat with a few of the wrestlers. I want to say first of all that everyone of the members of that team are class acts. The were incredibly hands on athletes. It was as though they went out of their way to engage in conversation with anyone who approached them. I briefly chatted with Morgan Mc., Suriano, and Mark Hall. They were actually involved in the food buffet handing out drinks. Zpane handed out the bottled water. Bo was engaged with a lot of the young kids. I saw him on the floor signing posters that were distributed to all who wanted one. Quite a line of kids in a very chaotic setting with the multitude trampling all around them.

My conversation with Morgan was mostly centered around his relationship with the Army. He is actually in the army and receiving pay for his service. The Army is working out with NLWC and Morgan will be wearing the Army brand when competing internationally. His goal after wrestling is to serve his country being a member of the "special forces" unit.

I introduced my self to Mark Hall, again what a class individual. Creamery freak was right beside me and I told Mark that Creamery Freak told me that he could deck him in less than a minute. Hall was somewhat surprised by this but not half as surprised as Creamery Freak. We had a good laugh. I mentioned how good his letter he wrote regarding recruiting. He said that he first thought it sounded corny and didn't think it would receive much attention. He said the responses were unbelievable. He love PSU.

Suriano was excited to be part of the Blue and White. He said that the wrestling room was first class and his work out partners were world class. I might add that the entire time the team was engaged in the mini-practice, his partner was none other than Frank the Tank Molinaro. David Taylor sat a few rows in front of us. He looks so much bigger than the last time I saw him.

They had a drill that they showed to everyone. They paired wrestlers up and each was wearing ankle straps on each ankle. The goals were for the wrestlers to remove the straps from the others ankles. The one who succeeded was declared the victor. I couldn't believe my eyes on how quick these guys are. One would shoot for a pick and the other would counter it. It was fun to see these guy in the most awkward positions. Even Cale got involved with competing against the lion. There was so much going on it was hard to focus on the whole event. I counted 36 wrestlers that were introduced

Thank you for sharing - lots of good stuff!

I lifted this from the scout board - delete if inappropriate.

A few observations, as mentioned Morelli and Rasheed drilled so we should assume we can put the 197 to rest for this year on Rasheed. Suriano is very intense, you can tell he maximized every minute on the mat, one focused individual. The team did a grab the anklet competition, Nick grabbed Frank and they drilled at the end of the mats for an additional 20 minutes or so. I was a bit surprised Jason was drilling with Moss, Kade didn't seem any bigger. I watched Bo and Smack for a bit, I'm no longer worried about him at 184, Bo is a big dude. Mouse did look more defined, my guess is the descent to 174 has already started, we'll see on that one. Zain is a humble individual and a wonderful leader, when a teammate tripped over the mat when he was running onto the mat, Zain was the next one announced and he took a dive, clearly to add levity and take the attention from his teammate. Watched Nevills for awhile, there didn't seem to be any limitations, hard to tell on a heavy when they are wearing T-shirts if he's added any muscle. Stout looked every bit the size of Cassar when they were standing next to each other. Cassar did individual drilled the whole time, he stretched his shoulders quit a bit, not sure we see him before January or so, he seemed very cautious. The only other thing of note was Suriano had his right elbow wrapped, it didn't seem to bother him when I was watching, I guess it's noteworthy.

Alas....without Roar there, we are left adrift.........

Come on Roar, stop the craziness.
Haha all...must say I missed this board while I was away. Tried to keep up a little, only when I had free-wifi though, which wasn't often. Back now, and Mrs. Roar is a very happy wifey, so life is good...and as you can see from this and other posts, I'm catching up!!

I don't think this tidbit made it onto the board, but apparently at the Kickoff Event CS indicated that Jan Johnson will be back with the wrestling team this season. You can read about it in a CDT article at THIS LINK.

I'm not sure how much to expect from him. He injured his knee while playing LBer for PSU a few weeks ago during the Michigan game. After the game CJF announced that it was a season-ending injury.

Just passing along the info.

I find this interesting, just due to scholarship ramifications. This kid will go down as one of my favorite of all time. Great kid.

There are no scholarship ramifications for the wresting team. Since he plays football, if he gets a dime of athletic aid from any other sport, it counts as a full ride against the football team. Therefore he's a freebie to Cael.

From pic #2 of the article Tom linked, Nevills looks in much better shape than at the end of last year. Maybe he hit the weights hard.

Gotta love those pics of Cael wrestling the Lion.
