Not what I was hoping to hear...….but certainly not surprising considering he will have Snyder as a training partner while in his prime.

Wonder what becomes of Chase Singletary? Could stick around and be the starter for a couple seasons, assuming Kirkliviet redshirts his first year. Would then appear that one of the two would have to sit.

As I said, the Hawks need to catch Ohio State before they need worry about Penn State and the Hawkers are closing the gap on neither.
Jury is still out until we see deadlifting vids and see them not be able to get out on bottom.
It can't be easy for tOSU (or Penn State for that matter) to stretch 9.9 scholarships over a roster like that.

No we can avoid the Seth vs Kirk drama. On balance both will be high AAs, I am good with Seth and rather we save some $$ for a very big 2020 class starting with Beau Bartlett! Now that Seth appears to be grey shirting I am getting more excited about Cassar maybe for the next 2 years. The golf outing photo has me convinced he might get to 240. At that weight he could just shock the class. No one, short of Gable will match his neutral game and speed
I don't know if I agree with this. This year PSU probably has too much for any challenger, but I would not be shocked to see the Hawks finish ahead of tOSU this season. However, Iowa should certainly be in the mix for a title as soon as next season. We could be watching a very interesting 4 team race in 2020.
Yeah, do we really want anyone who commits after a visit when he has other officials scheduled?
Really excited for the upcoming season...about all we can see with any certainty. I understand other fan bases wanting to look further out.
I guess Pyles’ “locks” are more easily picked than others.
We have a very good HWY - from a great family - coming. Add to that a great class and we are well-positioned for the future. Cael with more schollies for guys who can wrestle multiple weights (rather than just 1 like Heavies) is a scary proposition for others.
AJ Ferrari, Bartlett, Carson Manville, etc. The local trees keep bearing fruit (Pa/NJ/Md/NY guys or guys moving to Blair, Sem, etc).

Gotta give Ryan credit. He has really stepped up his recruiting and built a long-term formidable program. Leveraged Snyder to land elite talent throughout the lineup.
Still, the sky is still blue and white and not falling. Cael isn't conceding anything. Ryan is gonna need to recruit more Honorary Buckeyes each March.
They may, or may not finish ahead of OSU this year. If the Hawks wrestle a perfect tourney and hit every landing they could finish second, but if the 5 years after that they compete for the best of the next three like they have for the past 8 years did they ever really catch Ohio State?
2020 isn't going to be a 4 team race.
Good for the sport, imo. Recruiting is the name of the game, at least to start. That's followed by developing the wrestlers, and creating an environment that limits the less savory stuff. Having tOSU as our rivalry match is awesome, as we'll wrestle them every year...or until the B1G tweaks the scheduling model

Keep telling yourself that Iowa recruiting is on par with PSU or tOSU. 1 weight this 4 year cyle that is better (125) and 1 or two that are equivalent to what PSU and tOSU are bringing in.
I have to agree with El Jefe and give credit to Ryan. They talent they are bringing in over a couple year span is impressive and I'd be hard pressed to say that we have done better.

I think I posted in a different thread a while back that PSU and tOSU were at a distinctly different level than other programs. This pickup reinforces that belief. We're starting to see a wrestling world for the next 5 seasons in all likelihood where it's going to be those two battling for a championship and the next level programs fighting for 3-5 or so.
Iowa's recruiting/transfers have picked up dramatically lately. Never said they were on par with PSU/Ohio State.

Decent point but I am ok with 1 strike not two. After the he who should not be named debacle, better to have kids that are 100% committed, without hesitation. The departure of a flaky kid leaves to big a hole.

I have to agree with Turk here. While PSU is the clear favorite this year, even that can change with injuries, etc. With the N's graduating next year, it just as clearly is a more level playing field next year until someone separates themselves on the mat. At this time, we all feel good about the guys coming in to our teams.
I think next year will be really exciting seeing all the new guys develop and face off....but I'm going to enjoy this year first before I start really thinking about it.

When the N’s graduate does that mean PSU will fall back to level playing field like when Ruth and Taylor graduated? Cause I would take that!
I guess part of getting transfers is recruiting, thats fair, I guess. However, it is not the commonly held idea of recruiting to include transfers. You would agree?
in the traditional respects of recruiting, PSU and the Yuks run circles around the hawks.Past. Present. Future.
AND-AND-AND if it wasnt for the new transfers you would not be in the mix in 2020. thats just the facts.
