I'm pretty sure we played Cabinda, Bowen, & Bell on most defensive possessions. I'm not sure why you think 5 DBs is standard.

My money says we line up with 3 LBs on our first defensive possession vs. Akron. The 5th DB will come in on obvious passing situations.

This is why DC's like to have LB's like Farmer and DB's like Marcus Allen. You don't have to change your personnel too much.
