Lair declares Barkley as likely bust

Sorry. I can't help myself. I missed my Lair Anonymous meeting today.

Those few will be focusing on Miles Sanders soon enough. His return trip to Pittsburgh as the starting tailback for Penn State will be all they can think about once the draft is over.

In the meantime, what they really should be focusing on is this:
1. Douche has three coaching vacancies to fill; Conklin, Hill + 10th coach
2. Will Douche have to spend more than 2 months filling these vacancies after being turned down by everyone for OC last year?
3. How many unsigned recruits will want Pitt as a fall back come signing day after a miserable season and with vacancies in the coaching staff?
4. How tortuous it must be to be fanboys of a program with 1 10 win season since 1981.

Edit: BTW - this is what you get when you click on the pull down menu for the 2017-18 Pitt Football Coaching Staff:

Well, in all fairness, a fair amount of our RBs in the past 20-25 years have been busts for one reason or another. But that's true a lot of places. It's a tough position where they player takes a beating--I think the average career at that position is about 4 years.

You'll go nowhere trying to bring logic into this discussion. Please don't do that again.

The specials at the liar give Barkley no chance of nfl success because he went to Penn State. That's it, and that's always it.

Is Kane one of our operatives, or just a pitt dipstick?

Scouts starting to notice Barkley may be all hype

This guy uses one play where the lane is wide open and either Barkley doesn’t see it, or he doesn’t want to run between tackles. Either one is a massive issue for NFL personal. The scout also pointed out that at 230 pounds, Barkley should run far more physical than he does, me to, that’s him calling Barkley soft. Scout finishes by saying that there may be better backs in the draft, something anyone with functioning eyeballs could see. Barkley will get a lot of positive reviews out of his pro day and combine, but if he doesn’t fall in love with the concept of running between the tackles, drafting him in the top 5 is a massive risk. Especially considering how deep the RB class is this year.

All of Barkley’s big plays come outside the tackle box, so no, I’m not taking Barkley in the top 10. Fournette and Elliot were great inside runners, Barkley looks scared of contact. Hard pass.

As Penn Staters we should feel good about posts like this on the Lair. pitt fans have nothing to be proud of. Their football program has slidden into the lowest tier and will sink even lower. Their basketball program is a joke. They probably won't win a single league game this year. They have no sports programs with any national recognition. They have to live in a crime infested slum and go to class in decrepit filthy run down buildings to attain their community college level degrees.

As Penn Staters we give them something to make their day brighter. When they criticize Barkley or bring up Sandusky or talk about cow pastures or say that our 4 and 5 star recruits are over-rated, they get a momentary reprieve from their perpetual misery. We should be proud of the comfort we provide to these cretins.

I believe it's under 3 for RB's, under 4 average regardless of position.

To be fair, it's no ten win regular seasons. That one year they did beat UNC, the basketball school, in a bowl game to get to 10 wins.

He's probably trying to help him not go to Cleveland!

I've never seen Barkley shy away from contact. It just so happens that it's hard to run between the tackles when your line isn't great, the box is loaded, and the entire defense is keying on #26.

I wonder how well any of them run between the tackles and if they were drafted early in the first round of the NFL and signed a contract for millions?

To criticize someone who does something far better than you, does that not reek of jealousy and small character?

They should be very worried when Miles rolls into town next year in front of all his friends and family. I think he has a HUGE day and the hopes and prayers of the Pittiots come crashing down as they usually do every September.

I always view a bust as a guy who can't play at that level. Players that get inured aren't what I would call a bust. Very few RB's and WR's end up as true busts but there are some but since their talent is based mostly on their athleticism you get what you see. QB is very complicated and a guy call fall short in many different areas. I have always considered line play to be technique and skill heavy as well.

So you go inside all day long and get beat up and injured like Connor with the Steelers. He's a great back but is getting killed with his runs. What good is that. How much time did Barkley miss this year.
And while we're at it.,how about Pitt fans at last nights bb game yelling "overated" while getting pummeled by Duke!

Read the thread....it is mostly one guy trashing Barkley.

The rest are pretty complimentary but questioning PSU running back histories, injuries and the value of RB in the NFL these days.

I think it is fair that people that don't follow PSU football question Barkley's ability to "push the pile". We know PSU's record on third and short and even CJF mentioned that Barkley sometimes tried s to hit a home run when we just need to move the chains. But I would argue that our offense isn't suited for third and short (no under center, no running start, no fullback). I also believe Barkley needs to, and will, learn how to play with a FB and when the QB is under center. With his acceleration, he may be even more effective in a pro-style offense than JoeMo's.

I guess they need to resort to this since they don't have their basketball program to fall back on anymore.

And when you have the speed to get to the edge you use it to do it. Everyone who understands even a little bit about football knows this.

He shoulda changed his jersey number for the Pitt game, then none of the Pitt players would have had a clue what to do! Three defensive timeouts on our first three offensive plays!

That ones guys wife works security at games, she must be a load.
She works the gate at Nazareth (Jahan Dotson) home games. That guy said Barkley was soft, and everyone in the conference knew it. Whitehall outscored Nazareth 79-14 in Barkley's Jr. And Sr. seasons. Saquon scored 8 TDs in those games.
My group and I walked out of Cottingham Stadium in Easton listening to Rover fans talking about how overrated he was. He scored 5 TDs that night. A kickoff return, punt return, pass reception, 71 yard run , and 40 yard run.
It is a Lehigh Valley thing. Petty jealousy. Every time there is an article about him online here, the haters come out. It's stunning.
