Landry & Westwood good example of how quickly Oakmont can take it all back

Bourdy having a career day out there, but the field is starting to come back to the course, there are now only 8 players in red figures and dwindling. I wonder if they will cut and roll the greens again after the remaining players finish up their 2nd Rd and cut & pairings are made? I think they probably will if for no other reason then to smooth out the foot traffic on the greens from the completion of the 2nd Rd. I'm doubting that Bourdy is going to be able to put together 36 holes of this kind of golf. I think the course continues to progressively toughen up and I doubt there will be more than a handful left in red going into Sunday, if that. I will say, Bourdy looks for real, especially off the tee - DJ, Bourdy and Adam Scott look like they are playing the best tee-to-green golf imho and look like they might emerge. You can't count on making birdies at Oakmont especially as the course toughens into Sunday - the players who play the best tee-to-green and hit the most fairways and GIR are going to separate themselves this afternoon and Sunday as the course continues to get tougher imho.

As they say, there is going to be a "premium on par" come late this afternoon and all of tomorrow.

They play 18 holes. Landry shot 71. He stands at -3. So what did Oakmont take back? Westwood crapped some holes but now is on a run through 16, now even.

Speith is +5 and on the clock(normal).

I said how quickly you can give back - Landry had fallen all the way back to Even after making two bogies and a double consecutively at 6, 7 and 8 respectively. He made 3 birdies on the back 9 of his 2nd Rd including closing birdies at both 17 and 18, but you cannot count on making lots of birdies in the last two rounds as the conditions will continue to get tougher and reduce them. Hitting fairways, GIR and making pars are going to start separating the wheat from the chaff in Rd 3 this afternoon and tomorrow. Landry shot an inward 9 of 32 which isn't happening Rd 3 & 4 imho. Still say only a handful of players will remain under par after R3 - there are currently only 8 still in red figures.

Yeah, they play 18 holes.

Westwood finished with 72 for the day. Landry 71. So what Oakmont took away, Westwood and Landry took back.

Ain't happen this afternoon and Sunday - you give up 4 shots with two bogies and a double on consecutive holes on your front nine, you aren't "picking them back up" with birdies on your inward 9. The course is going to get progressively more difficult all the way into Sunday afternoon.....the players able to hit fairways, GIR and make easy pars (e.g., the guys playing best tee-to-green) are going to separate themselves and scores on average will continue to rise.

18 holes.

"Ain't happen'in" - can't count on making tons of birdies on inward 9s this afternoon or tomorrow - Landry playing way to eratic to win as the conditions continue to get progressively tougher. He's made 4 bogies and double through the first 2 rounds offset by 9 birdies - the evolving conditions strongly suggest that the former totals (bogies and doubles) will likely go up and the latter total (9 birdies) will go way down in the last 2 rounds - contrast that with DJ's 1 bogie and 4 birdies... Again, the players hitting the ball far-&-straight off the tee, leading the field in GIR and not needing to rely on 1-putting to save par will likely separate themselves.

You seemed obsessed with this Course getting harder, just let it go already. We get it

Consider this: history might prove you wrong.

Research, write, apologize and please, above all, use paragraphs.

A double is offset by an eagle. I won't go on.

I used to work with Justin Hicks and play with him quite a bit. Good player, but....Michigan Man. Nuff said.
