Last 30 seconds of hoops game was awesome

As we all know many of the team's that make the NCAA tournament are there to fill out the brackets.
32 of them are gone after d a y one. But that is the genius of the tournament. Schools that have no chance dream of being Cinderella and the appeal and interest is greatly enhanced.
With the way this team is playing check out how many of the participants the could best.

Wrong.....36 of them are gone as of Fri evening.

IMO PSU has to beat Minnesota (45% chance) and Purdue (20% chance) in order to make the NIT.

Well, however this all plays out, KUDOS to the coaching staff and the players for fighting through the 0-10 and finishing 7-3.

Come on, you know it's not this simplistic. 25-6 in the Atlantic Sun conference hardly says you're the same as 25-6 in the Big Ten. Unless you think Lipscomb and Michigan are the same. Obviously schedule strength greatly affects record, so record alone doesn't say what you are.
Fact is we play in the Big Ten and our Big Ten record is bad year in and year out. I mean, the team had to win 7 of 10 just to get to 7 - 13, a .350 conference winning percentage. Yeah, we peaked late. Way too late.

The only thing the announcer knows about "metrics" is when he checks out the lines on the urine specimen container. In the immortal words of Charley Tuna, "You are what your record says you are."
Charlie is wrong in this regard...maybe he was eating several tuna melts at the time he made his remark...

Wrong. Just because you may not believe in them, doesn't mean that there aren't a wealth of people who do believe in metrics. Those metrics show us to be a top 50 team and clearly the announcers knew that.

Mid majors should have their own tournament and P5 have theirs. We fans want to see the best play. Metrics is what determines so much in sports today why not this. Unfortunately, according to KenPom, the Big Ten has 11 teams who have played the top 20 most difficult schedules in the country! No other conference even close. PSU’s second half performance is as good as any of the big dogs in the conference.

From Bart Torvik's T-Rank from Feb 1st onward.

This is a super young team but one key element was pointed out in post game comments by coach. “Lamar is trusting his team mates more.” This helped them gain confidence and make shots under less pressure. Our three youngest guards had an amazing run, defensively and on offense.

Our defense has been as good as anyone in the league AND refs called far fewer “shadow” fouls.

Best part (going back to the original topic for a second) is that Davis actually took himself out of the starting lineup because the game was more important than him starting and he felt it was too important for them to win. Made the last 30 seconds even more well deserved.
