Bowen and Farmer are not up to the standard, don’t know what is in the pipeline but the position needs addressed.
Gunsie knows what’s in the pipeline. Ask him.Bowen and Farmer are not up to the standard, don’t know what is in the pipeline but the position needs addressed.
It will be interesting in January when every team can add a 10th coach to see what area this extra coach is assigned.Pry is pulling double duty as the DC and the LB coach. Get a dedicated LB coach.
Vanderlinden may have a few years left in him? What about a former standout LB at PSU who played pro? That would certainly help the recruiting.
I did not know that. I think PSU should hire LaVar Arrington as LB coach. Today's HS kids were not even born when he played at PSU, but he is a dynamic personality and I think he could recruit the top LBs in the U.S. very easily. It will be interesting in January when every team can add a 10th coach to see what area this extra coach is assigned.
Agree about the linebackers. Think the DE still have some maturing and will be strong once they bulk up.I was thinking about this when I woke up today. When is the last time a LB made a big time play this year? Farmer really struggles in pass coverage. PSU badly needs a game changer at LB and defensive end. Bowen for all of his athletic ability and speed just doesn't make many plays.

recruiting is the key issue. the current senior class were part of JF's first recruiting class, and in 4 groups we have not recruited a player who can come in as a FR or So and impact the game. the top teams get those type LBs. every year Bama has a few players impacting in their first year.
Just an FYI. Lavar was a linebacker although I'm sure you knew that but it's apples and oranges. Not to mention he may be the most athletic linebacker to ever play for PSU. With Buchholz and Brown out of course they don't look as strong. You're playing with all soph and freshmen. If you are excited about the young DE's you are easily impressed. If Simmons was the talent of his 4/5 star recruiting hype he would be making plays and be punishing the QB's of teams with average OL's like MSU, who is starting 3 star freshmen. Lavar did it true freshman season, although not as much as he could have due Joe's not playing freshmen much. Toney is years away from being physically able to hold up to a power run team, if he ever gets there.
