Lebron signs with Lakers

Ouch. Oh well. His kid will be playing with several NBA HoFer's kids. He'll kick off his entertainment industry career. Probably a good move but he won't win any championships there.....

If they add Kawhi, I’m not so sure you’re right depending on who all they have to give up.

I can't see the Spurs trading Kawhi to the Lakers but regardless even with LeBron an Kawhi I don't think they're beating Golden State...not even sure about Houston.

Just LeBron being LeBron and still not understanding legacy...or maybe he just doesn't care

Kawhi to follow soon I presume.
I wouldn’t count on that. If anything, this ratchets up desperation in Philly. They need a star and have gone on record about that. I think Lebron May end up beached, if that’s possible on a $157 million deal. ;)

How long before lavar ball says that his son is the franchise player on the Lakers, not lebron?

No, it's just beginning. lebron and one of the balls on the same team. Unbearable.

if I’m the Sixers I’m not worried about the first round picks. They’re going to be in the conference finals every year anyway, so you’re likely just getting role players there (unless they’re asking for the Heat 1st). Now if the two players in addition are Fultz and Saric, it’s absurd.

1st round picks for an unmotivated player on a one year rental? No thanks.

This is why I think Leonard winds up being dealt to LA. The Spurs want too much. That will eliminate all but the Lakers who will sit tight and get a better deal in a month.

That won’t nor should it happen.

In a "win today" league environment, you never know. Still, this is the slow play Sixers, who seemingly tanked for 4-6 years to obtain what they have. To make any deals like this after a playoff appearance reeks of desperation, particularly when GS and Houston (now, the Lakers) loom in the Finals for the Eastern representative.

San Antonio is smart. You over-ask for your most valuable asset in hopes teams are just greedy enough to think '18-'19 is their season and Kawhi will put them over the top. Loyalty and shrewd spending have had them retain Manu and Parker for longer than they should have, and I think they still feel snake bit acquiring Aldridge in FA and not having a title to show for it. Additionally, that has played a part in souring the relationship with Kawhi, who was looking like a top 5 player in the league prior to coming down on a GS defender in the playoffs that one year. (Different injury than the quad, but he hasn't seemed right since)

You know it drives Pop crazy watching GS thrive under his principles. And outside of GS drafting superior (plus adding Durant), they have still outpaced the rest of the West minus Houston who have FA'd the majority of their core by sticking to their plan. Nobody foresaw the Splash Brothers. It just came to be.

That's because the world has only a tiny supply of 6'8"+ athletic phenoms
Yes. It's also true that only 5 players start and they play both offense and defense. Compare that to a football team with 22 starters or a baseball pitcher who play half of every 5th game.

The Spurs are going to be stubborn on this IMO. They aren't going to lower the price and they clearly don't want Ball. Ingram, Kuzma and a first rounder have to be included. I think you guys are underestimating the value of Leonard. I think he acted like a child last year and even this off-season but he's an elite defender/player. He's worth a ton in the trade market.

I’ve loved Lebron. But this is such a pussy move. He didn’t want to risk losing more nba finals ****

Awwww man, so no ESPN 60 minute show to reveal who he's going to play for. No worries though, ESPN will be 90% LeBron coverage from here until mini camp with the other 10% dedicated to the Red Sox/Yankees games that were just played or games that will be played later in the season.

Its probably a great move for him, from a positioning standpoint. He's still a great player, the best in the NBA, and he'll get so much love from the shallow and spoiled fans in LA. He'll be in a great position to move into the entertainment industry. But he'll have to get very lucky to win an NBA championship there. LA will have to move assets to get KL from SA and that means a very thin bench and some kids that are very inexperienced. GSW go two deep at every position and simply keep loading up with 3 point shooters until they find the hot hand. Houston is not far behind, but hardin shrinks in the playoffs.

A a CLE sports fan, though, it really sucks. This is why one championship here is worth three anyplace else. It is just so hard to get and retain stars. Simply hate NY and LA sports teams. And, if it were me, I'd be professional about James but I don't care if the team does anything for him like retiring his number of building a statue. He left CLE, twice. I respect him as a man and a player but as a fan in CLE, he's just another great basketball player.

Lakers are projected to win 52 games next year. Vegas odds moved them from 200-1 to 7-2 to win the 2019 NBA title. Also need to see where Kawhi Leonard signs. . .

If they purge Luol Deng from their roster, they'll have something like $25 million in cap space in 2019
