But, from a Darwinian perspective, those individuals don’t generally live long either.

Good point...but at some point, James isn't going to be as good as he was in 2017/18. I really wonder if his heart will be in it next year. I mean, the guy was truly super human to get that cast of characters into the NBA finals last season. And, if it wasn't for a bad call, a brain freeze and a missed FT, CAVS are 1-0 at GS going into game two and James doesn't hurt his hand after the game.Lakers are projected to win 52 games next year. Vegas odds moved them from 200-1 to 7-2 to win the 2019 NBA title. Also need to see where Kawhi Leonard signs. . .
If they purge Luol Deng from their roster, they'll have something like $25 million in cap space in 2019
I think he means that large people don't live as long, statistically. I had an elderly man that watched his weight like a hawk and used to say "you don't see many fat old people!!" Carrying that weight, even if you are 6-8 and fit, takes a toll on your lower body and cardio health.

I’ve loved Lebron. But this is such a pussy move. He didn’t want to risk losing more nba finals ****
Yeah this is Michael Jordan to the Wizards. Karl Malone to the Lakers. I don’t really understand why LeBron did this after saying he wants to finish out his career as a Cavalier and going to 8 straight finals. I get if he wants to live in LA but NBA is on the road all the time and that’s sort of pointless. He could just live there in the off-season and it would be the same thing. Also this move really does not make any sense. Going to almost any team in the East would have been a better move than thisAs far as winning championships go, I think this backfires spectacularly on LBJ. His generation is almost done (2003, 2004, and 2005 draft classes). They can't help him win anymore by ganging up together on one team. You need younger players and I don't know how many of the younger guys want to pad LBJ's career while taking a back seat to their own legacy. Maybe LA lures some of these guys for other reasons (fame, money, endorsements, etc), but every year that goes by, LBJ looks less and less appealing as he ages and other teams with youth come into their own. Lakers will sell a ton of merchandise and LBJ can work on his transition out of the NBA into TV or movies or Magic Johnson type wealth building (as if he really needs it).
Where are Sixers fans saying that? I don't see that at all.pretty funny watching Sixers and Cavs fans try to talk themselves into "yeah I think we're better off without Lebron"
Lebron tends to leave a mess behind when he moves to another team. The Lakers will agree to bend over backwards and mortgage their future to get LBJ to sign, he'll stay for a few years during which time he will piss off the good young players and the Lakers will bring in over-priced friends of LBJ to chase a title. It will be tough for them to even make the conference finals competing against Golden State, Houston and OKC (and San Antonio is still likely to be a good team). When Lebron moves on, the Lakers will be a hollow shell possibly without the good young talent they have today.pretty funny watching Sixers and Cavs fans try to talk themselves into "yeah I think we're better off without Lebron"
I don't see any Cav's fans saying that either. The only thing I hear is, perhaps, a) he doesn't have that many good years left and/or b) let the rebuilding start now.pretty funny watching Sixers and Cavs fans try to talk themselves into "yeah I think we're better off without Lebron"
Does LeBron realize that, at best, he makes the Lakers the 4th - 5th best team in the West?
I think he is aware of the on court ramifications, although leaving a mediocre supporting cast in Cleveland for a mediocre supporting cast in LA still equals the same thing. No Title. Might as well enjoy the nice weather, and build his brand for post retirement. Hopefully he has excellent advisors so he doesn't end up throwing globs of money at horrible investments like music labels and movie deals.
james and ball...in the back yard of the Kardashians. I predict James will regret this decision 10 years from now.Seems like the Lakers are just going to wait until 2019 to make a run at Leonard or maybe Jimmy Butler. Could be an awkward for year in LA
His brand doesn't need "built"...it's fully established

It depends what he wants that brand to be? As a basketball player and athlete sure he might be maxed out. However as an iconic figure in everyday society on par with figures like MJ or pre scandal Tiger he still has a ways to go. Being in the media capital of the universe might get him there.

As a Celtics fan, I'm glad to see LBJ go west and I'm more glad to not have him on the Celtics.
Subtraction by addition.BTW, Rajon Rondo just signed with the Lakers.
