There is talk on the Ohio board about Hunter going down to 141. Assuming he's healthy (which is a huge assumption) he might be the favorite there. Tomasello, HS, Bo are all possible finalists then, with AA potential at 133, 149/157 (wherever Micah ends up), wherever Courts goes, maybe 285. They could make a run if everything breaks right.
As long as we don't prematurely order 2016 NCAA Wrestling Champions t-shirts, we'll be ahead of the game.
I'd be borderline stunned to see Ohio State ahead of Penn State this year.

I'd guess that MN has more than 5 holes, come AA time.
They aren't improving at hwt imo. I don't think Haines has hardly seen the mat yet. I'm betting we see Tav again.
If I had ranked Gulibon, Grey, and Beckman ahead of returning B1G senior AA Thorn I would also try to forget it. Of course, I wouldn't have spent two threads and eight pages trying to defend it either on a site that archives.

Well 1) You were wrong then and you're still wrong. The finish doesn't prove the ranking was incorrect. Was Kevin Jack poorly ranked bc he AA'd?
2) If this is really what you're going to bring up, one pre-season ranking from 2 years ago, considering the countless predictions and rankings I've done, I must be doing alright.
Well, let's see:
Thorn was a returning AA -- 7th at 125. If you think he should've been ranked as a 133 AA, then you'll have no problem with Conaway as a 133 AA this year ... right?
Gulibon and Thorn split matches that year. So that ranking wasn't exactly a WAG.
And why is being a SR relevant? Under that criterion, the defending 2x national champ SR heavy must have been a massive disappointment, losing to a mere SO. Also under that criterion, how did the Goofers not win the national title last year? Or at least print some t-shirts?

I wonder how harshly he judges his Guillotine Boys for predicting stardom for Short, Wanzek and Kroells - not to mention the Dardanes, Ness and Shiller. I, myself, had egg on my face as they were my favorite last year.

I can see these as the top-5 in some type order.

From the WIN Magazine preseason rankings (available at THIS LINK):
"WIN’s individual preseason rankings do not include true freshmen or redshirt freshmen. They will be inserted into the rankings into (sic) November after actual college matches have been wrestled."
So for PSU, the rankings do not include:
1) Jason Nolf
2) Shakur Rasheed (though they do include Hammond as #19 at 165)
3) Bo Nickal
4) Nick Nevills
That's 30 (or 40, if Rasheed is included) percent of the lineup, and not just fill-ins, but guys for which it is reasonable to expect them to score points at Nationals.
With all due respect to WIN Magazine, doing rankings when you don't consider 30-40% of the projected starters is useless. Either wait to rank teams until you can assess freshman or stick your neck out a little bit and figure out how you think they will do. Otherwise your poll just makes you look stupid.
Exactly. Why even go through the exercise unless you are going to make some kind of assessments. You may as well just rank the teams according to last year's finishes.
They go through the trouble of projecting kids at new weights with no data - don't understand why you can't rank redshirt freshman who have more relevant data than these kids.
All that said, I'd still take a flyer on the kid. Looks like he's got some potential

The kid's a soph in HS for goodness sakes. Nico and Conaway are fifth year seniors!
Don't shoot the messnger. You might also note that all the top teams are missing their freshmen starters.
Which makes the WIN poll somehow even more useless. May as well put a blindfolded monkey in front of a dartboard.
