Well, two great periods then Red rode him like a mule for the entire 3rd. 6-5 final.

Great match...Lee gave him all he could handle. Couldn't finish a few deep shots and couldn't get off the bottom in the third. 6-5 final.

Lee is really good. Haven't seen a lot of him. Liked hearing his 4.0 GPA

Red is a guy who will probably be a national champion one day. Great match.

WHAT. A. MATCH. Red is fu*king incredible and I was nearly equally impressed with Lee! Very excited about Nick's future. Also, think Red has the frame to be a 149er long term, super long guy.

Lee looked in great shape up 4-2 with a great shot and control of that single leg....then Red outfunked him on that scramble for the takedown straight to the back off the cradle. Nice move by Red. It looked after that Lee had the wind taken out of his sails

incredible match wow... thanks for linking... lee did push red out a couple of times... red will have to watch that in college... win or lose here lee is a stud... like the way he wrestles

Once Nick gets in our room with Zain and others he will go past Red. I would bet a lot of money on it. Neb room does not even come close.

He won't win Nationals if he is at Nick Lee's weight. PSU's room is unreal. He will be wrestling Zain and many others that will make him even better. Neb room does not even compare.

So, we thinking Nick is the long term replacement for Cortez at 141 and even though projecting Joe is silly, he's a 157 long term?

Spyker you type some crazy sh!t but your right about our room.....when this class arrives....our RS and #2s could very well be a top 15 team on their own.

Crazy when you put that in perspective against the d1 field

Tbf, Burroughs is nowhere near his weight class and the Nebraska room doesn't have near the quality of depth.

No...but Nebraska seems to be able to take talent like a Green and exceed expectations. I don't know if they've had a recruit as elite as Red in recent years and if Red grows to 149, Burroughs will be able to roll around with him. Green definitely.

Not sure a lot of you guys are giving Chad Red credit for just how good he is. He is a top 5 wrestler in the nation AND he is a monster on top. I have seen him wrestle in person and have seen him take apart kids who are going to be great wrestlers in college. Nebraska is a great place to wrestle and as he got a 100% scholly, it's pretty much a no brainer choice for a kid. And he will be a force on the NCAA scene. Good luck to him.

I'm actually pretty stoked about Lee's performance against Red. I expected Red to control the match. Lee has got a great future at PSU and he is very underrated IMO. I would say he is not at all behind the Suriano get, and the fact that he comes with a talented brother makes it even better.

Hopefully, Lee and Red will be battling it out for some future NCAA titles. I wouldn't bet against it.

Spyker's insane childlike blabber my just make me ignore someone for the first time....

Always a lot of talk about the depth of our room in threads about recruits.. If you are a wrestler, all a strong room gives you is the opportunity to realize your potential. You still have to want it and take advantage of it every signle day for that to happen. Otherwise the strength of the room makes no difference.

I'm also excited about Nick Lee! If he takes full advantage of the room, he's going to do very very well.

I was talking to a D3 wrestling coach yesterday. He made a great observation. Chad's wrestles style is much like Burroughs and Green. Nick and Joe Lee's style is more offensive. All these kids ended up going to the right programs for them.

I just watched the match.. Impressive display by both kids.. Redd seems like he's so much bigger and really has a prodigy-like control over his body.. Glad we got Lee.. Agree he's only going to get better and loved his agressive yet brutal style.. See some Zain in him.. Will be fun to see how both fare at the next level... And Lee's only a junior? Wow.

Great match. Note that Nick Lee missed most of the season with a broken vertebrae and still performed like he did against one of the top pfp guys in the country.

We got 2 great recruits in the Lee brothers - some are sleeping on them because they aren't from the Commonwealth.

I get what you're saying, but I think we can all agree a strong room increase the likelihood a kid will reach his potential. Of course PSU is not the only place, we could probably name another 10 or so that are close.

In contrast though, I look at a place like NW or even Pitt. Both have recruited pretty well over the past several years but for whatever reason they struggle to field a solid line-up.

Looks like you can see it here: http://ihsaatv.org/

I liked the analysts for the match. I love both wrestlers. Lee will get more practice getting out form underneath at Penn State. Redd is a hammer on top. That was the obvious difference. But, they looked fairly even elsewhere to me. Two OUTSTANDING wrestlers.

Watch Redd's interview and then watch Joe Lee's interview - my impression is that we got a GREAT fit for PSU in the Lee's. I prefer the humble reactions far more than the over the top ones...of course Redd did just come from behind to finish his undefeated career in the state finals so I'm sure it's hard to be humble in a moment like that. The Lee's style and demeanor sure seam like a perfect PSU fit to me though!

I think the one aspect that the PSU room separates itself is that the staff does an excellent job of switching things up and making it fun for the guys. Anyone who has ever wrestled, knows that wrestling is one of the most demanding and grueling sports around and keeping all that extremely hard work still fun for the wrestlers is a big part of the success we are witnessing.
Very good and accurate post NittanyLion84....The big difference is who is in our room. But Cael makes it a Huge difference. More then any Coach in the country hands down. Not only in the room but his lifestyle that has an effect on every one of our wrestlers. I have often heard from wrestlers themselves other big time Coaches make you hate the sport after 2 years. Brands is a prime example.

Funny, I don't recall any comments about Red's celebrations or humility a year ago when we all thought he was coming to PSU.

Cut the crap. Name someone who Brands made hate the sport, or shut up. This is only marginally less offensive than your dreck last night, that rightly was deleted.
