That’s their formula every year! They have enough great players at every other position that it doesn’t matter.I agree the Bucknuts are probably best. But their QB play isn’t elite, especially if teams can get a little pass rush pressure on him.

It is the battle of the two northern NIL kings. Nobody north of the SEC, including PSU, is in the same NIL league as those two schools.I'd say OSU by 3. It would be 7 if the game was in Columbus. It is in Oregon.
The number 11 team (USC) lost too. And the number 8 team (Miami) won by 1 point. Tough day for the top teams.Check your math! Alabama, TN, Mizzou, Michigan. I believe that’s four.
I love all of the “explosive” plays, but we really need to convert those to more points on the scoreboard. I watched KU last year and was thoroughly impressed with AKs offense. But to date, despite the increased explosive production, we are averaging 6 points less than we did last year after 5 games and only 4 points more than we did for the entire season last year and that included the debacles vs OSU and Michigan. We had 4 explosive passes today. 3 to Clifford and 1 to Wallace.
So far, we have utilized a different player in every game for big plays. Allar is playing very well. We just aren't dropping back and slinging it enough for some to love the style of play.
I appreciate your opinions though. You aren't negative for the sake of negative. I'm not sure that we can beat the top 4 or 5 either, but 6-10 teams do not scare me.
And two weeks in a row that number 8 team was bailed out by the ACC refs (replay booth) at the end, protecting their ranking. The number 11 team (USC) lost too. And the number 8 team (Miami) won by 1 point. Tough day for the top teams.
I think PSU is better than just above average but I'm concerned about the pass rush. PSU is tied for 7th in the BiG with 13 sacks. Nebraska leads with 20. I expected more from the duo of Sutton and Carter.PSU is an above average team. We’re not elite. And that will make beating OSU and the top SEC teams very difficult. Don’t want to hear about us starting slow or needing to clean things up. We don’t have a stud receiver and our back 7 has some issues along with a very average pass rush. USC game will tell us some things about our secondary but they (USC) are not elite either. Perhaps we catch lightening in a bottle vs OSU but today’s performance shows we are what we are. Don’t need a team meeting or to ‘try harder’. After a team plays a few games you get a pretty clear picture of what they can do.
He said that before Tennessee lost and Mizzou lost to a ranked team. It was good math lolCheck your math! Alabama, TN, Mizzou, Michigan. I believe that’s four.
Everyone seems to simply accept that. Oregon has Nike, but I have never seen the actual figures. OSU has no Nike and no obvious thing that puts them in an elite NIL class. I am guessing over the next few years Ohio State will be where Michigan, PSU etc. are.It is the battle of the two northern NIL kings. Nobody north of the SEC, including PSU, is in the same NIL league as those two schools.
Penn State’s “average” pass rush? Huh?Appreciate the dialogue and difference of opinion.
I’m just saying that our lack of explosiveness in the passing game at this point in the season is a major problem. I do not think we have enough there - no one that scares other teams, and that will be a major problem vs top 10 competition.
Defensively, we’ve been good but our average pass rush could be a problem. USC will be a big test, particularly for our corners.
I’m just taking an honest look at PSU. I root for them as hard as anyone. But these ongoing issues are not going away. I think you get a pretty clear picture of what you have after 5 games. I hope I’m wrong….
And among the leaders in fewest points allowed. Hmmm.I love all of the “explosive” plays, but we really need to convert those to more points on the scoreboard. My other concern with this team is that we do not seem to be getting very many turnovers on the defensive side of the ball.
Other than a half against BGSU the defense has been great. A bad drive here or there but overall great. The pass rush is really starting to show up. We didn't see it early because we decided to contain Greene and BGSU simply threw the ball fast so they'd be neutralized. And among the leaders in fewest points allowed. Hmmm.
And Miami squeaked by againCheck your math! Alabama, TN, Mizzou, Michigan. I believe that’s four.

That USC game is HUGE and will tell us a ton about PSU
Duh! I read it after they lost. lol.He said that before Tennessee lost and Mizzou lost to a ranked team. It was good math lol
We are a average team we have no game breakers on this team some one will soon get smart and play 8 in the box game over
