Lets discuss

Michigan just seems like Michigan to me. Ton of talent but quite a few old beat up guys giving it a final go. AJ crash probably distracted OSU and on top of that they aren't all that great this year. I still think Michagan gets a trophy and OSU finishes about 6th or 7th without AJ.

The Kevin Jackson effect certainly isn’t putting butts in seats. Their last two Friday night duals were huge matchups and I saw as much opposing colors in the stands as I did maize and blue.
As far as Okie State, that’s a tough one to figure out. No answer for that.

We were there, brought a bunch of Penn Staters with us. Third time in last 8 years or so and attendance is always lower than expected. At 6,100 plus for the Penn State dual, it will be by far their largest attendance of the year. Another data point re. attendance; they've moved their dual with MSU, which should be a rivalry, to the 1,800 seat Cliff Keen Arena.

Tickets for the Penn State dual were $3, and they had a $1 ticket special for the Sunday dual with Rutgers (same weekend). Crazy, can't explain it.

$3? Lol….can’t get a candy bar for that these days

I think a lot of people put Oklahoma State on the same tier as PSU this year because they were right with us going into Saturday night. The reality is, they benefitted from 2 blood round forfeits (including one over our guy) and a fiasco that should have sent Lewallen potentially packing earlier. They had a really damn good tournament though but I think Wittlake is closer to lower AA and doesn't look AA caliber right now at all.

U of M people. They can't attend wrestling matches. They are too busy fretting how Ohio State is going to take Harbaugh away, without realizing Ohio State is working hard to keep Harbaugh at Michigan.

Just to reference the 1800 Cliff Keen number.
Lehigh will draw about 1500 at Grace Hall for a match against a teams like Pitt and Cornell. When PSU comes in they move the match to Stabler and put about 6,500 in it. A couple years ago they moved it to Allentown's PPL Center which holds around 9500 for wrestling. The tickets sold for $12-25. It was packed.

I think all this is somewhat confirming the crowd in Detroit won't provide UofM any "home field" advantage.

But what does it have to do with the original post (OkSt two loss weekend, KJ impact at UofM)?

Michigan - that’s an older bunch of wrestlers. Kevin is probably there to develop the younger guys. Next year will tell if he has a positive effect.
John Smith has been a great coach over the years, but, this team has got away from him. It may indeed be the end for John. It would probably be better for him to turn the program over to a younger coach who is more willing and able to manage the shenanigans of this era. Stillwater is a destination job and they could snag a guy like David Taylor to reinvigorate the program.

Smith is only like 56? He is not that old. The guy is a legend. I just think he makes his guys cut to hard! They look very tired to me. If I couldn't wrestle for Cael, I would wanna wrestle for John Smith. Seems like a real decent guy in his interviews as well just like Cael.
