Link to Big 10 Tournament Brackets

If all the higher seeds win except for Law, if I figured right, the 4 man bracket for 9th would be Stickley vs Eicher and Law vs Delvecchio and the winners wrestling for the last AQ spot.

The key is, first beat Delvecchio, then if you meet Stickley, DO NOT TAKE DOWN and DO NOT GET TAKEN DOWN. Keep the match on your feet and you can beat him.

These byes are good news. Each is one less opportunity for a freak injury right before nationals.

If people are truly unhappy about missing bonus points at B10s ... is that the goal for this season?

I guess that's a fair way to look at it, but how can we claim 'world domination' without winning the Big? ;)

The number of byes in a closely contested Big10 tournament can be an issue. Not sure which conference changed their rules to address the issue, but I seem to remember a conference making all byes random because the stronger teams complained about their higher seeded wrestlers receiving too many byes.

Loser of Micic/Richards in 2nd consi?
That is a very tough drawl with Micic who is the number 5 seed on the consi....Terrible place to drop down too...One other place below or on top would have given him a much better shoot....They had that set up....You guys do know everyone is against PSU ? Sort of like Bama in football...

Kind of puts a sting in PSU bonus point tally for first round.

Zain & Nevills appear to be only chance for PSU bonus in first round. (Assuming Suriano ankle is still questionable & may default)

Gulibon, Nolf, Joseph, Hall, Nickal & Cutch don't wrestle until afternoon.

That's 7-8 missed bonus points
To be clear, Gulibon etc still wrestle in Session 1 which starts at 10. Yes, they might not hit the mat until "after noon" but it won't be much later.

I'm sure it has nothing to do with Law's 0-2 record.

Yeah, it's such a shame that the Big Ten didn't seed Law 15th in a 14-man bracket.

how's Bloomington?

Would the Big 10 ever consider adding two teams JUST IN WRESTLING ONLY, to round out the conference tourney to 16 wrestlers in every bracket?

Probably not, but this is an interesting idea that could lead to a fun exercise.

I am going to begin by assuming that no existing team can join the conference. There are already too few wrestling teams and stripping two of them from their current affiliation would almost certainly have a negative impact to that specific conference.

With this parameter in place we must work to add a new program entirely. This could be a school that has had wrestling in the past and the program was dropped, or it could be a school that's never had a team before. Keep in mind that this is just an interesting thought born from no real expectation.

So, let's get work adding 2 teams to the B1G. Let's assume we must stick within a reasonable geographic location as well. It would be silly to suggest Hawaii or Florida State add wrestling and join the B1G.

With all that in mind then, we can reasonably choose from the following schools:

1. Notre Dame--Easy choice, had a successful program in the past and fits all of my hypothetical parameters. Clearly has budget to field a squad. Already has a solid rivalry with Michigan, Purdue, and MSU. This would be everyone's first choice, I believe.

2. Kansas--Fits geographically, so travel would not be an issue. Not sure if they've had a team before.

3. Tennessee--Cut their program in the 90s, I believe. Bonus of hosting B1Gs in Nashville. Fun!

4. Kentucky--Poaching from the SEC would be fun. Good location, already has natural rivalry with Indiana.

5. Colorado--I'm stretching my self-imposed geographical parameters but really, it's not that much further than Nebraska. Had a decent team before it was cut. Gives Bo Pipher a chance to wrestle in his home state too. :)

6. Syracuse--It's a travesty that Syracuse doesn't have a team. Location is not an issue here either, plus they had a fairly solid squad in the past.

I'm sure there are more options but this post is long enough. This was fun for me though. Thanks for the suggestion, 21!

Hypothetically, though....wouldn't we probably see Syracuse and ND join thE ACC, Kansas join the Big 12 and Colorado in the PAC-12 since those conferences all have wrestling? That would leave the SEC possibilities you mentioned.

Yes, the ACC/P12/B12 teams make no sense
